Pubnat2 e-quip

Question for any airline employee or airport employee..... Does having a U.S. Customs/DHS Seal on your airport badge count as the question "Has the United States Government ever investigated your background and/or granted you a security clearance?" I would assume yes, because the U.S. Customs/DHS is a government entity. I know they do a background check once a year, but that is all I know. Thanks folks!

I was going to update the e-quip for that because I forgot the night before but then forgot to update it....I remembered to add the USPS though..hehe. I'm thinking it really doesn't matter. If you've worked for an airline, especially as a ramper, you know you've had about a dozen different state and US government groups looking you up.

No, that is not the same thing. I've had the same customs seal and it's not what they are asking about. They are asking if the government ITSELF has conducted a suitability investigation on you (not the airline). A more basic way to look at the question would be "Have you ever filled out a SF85/86 before?"

Actually to aquire the US Customs Seal/Holigram you are filling out a government form and the DHS is the agency doing the background check. Every time we renew our SIDA badge we have to go get a new sticker from US Customs, the airline has no say in this process.

You can list it if you like, but they are asking if you have had a suitability determination by OPM or another agency. It's not the same thing. The "check" Customs does for the seal is not an SSBI and it not even looked at by a BI adjudicator. It's simply a felony check in the FBI database, not exactly a background check.

anybody heard anything about people not getting eqip invites who have received PEPC invites? there are a couple of guys in our group of 5 who didn't get an eqip invite, but got PEPC invites.

Having a SIDA badge with a Customs seal on it (FIS) is authority to work and operate in an Air Operations Area, Sterile Area, Federal Inspections Area, or designated Customs/FIS Area. This is required under FAR Part 139.303 for commercial airports and requires a background check that is not associated with a federal background check by a OPM office. Thus, having an airport, airline (121 or 135), or ramp security badge is not a badge that was given under order of a federal gov secuirty background check.
Unless you work at an airport for USC or TSA under Part 1542

I received mine...and I'm on the 17th...

I am curious if it has to do with the info you provided on your declaration for federal employment...

or maybe when you turned that back in?

I am hoping you get it soon.

My father works for the FAA already so maybe that has something to do with it, but I wouldn't think it would though.

I turned it back in last Thursday night, so they have had four business days (today is the fifth) and the weekend to send me a response.

:yeahthat: Same here. I didn't send in my 306 until late friday afternoon last week so I wasn't expecting to get my e-quip with the first batch. But I requested a read receipt and I haven't even gotten a receipt e-mail yet. :(

i had my local interview this morning...do i still have to do the e-quip?
Yes. You will do that when you get your TOL. The TOL also comes with lots of forms to fill out and instructions on scheduling the drug test, medical and MMPI2. It's all pretty straightforward.

Nov 18 PEPC invite, but still no e-qip invite here.

Get this... they just sent me the form 1631 (credit report release form) and asked to have it returned. That was all...

Verbatim:

"Please complete and forward the attached DOT Form 1631

Thanks"

Weird, eh? :D
Guess they read the forums and saw that folks were confused on what went where.

Got E-qip access today, they said its talking a little longer because they
are swamped with emails and correspondence

If you haven't heard anything yet email the 9-awa-ash email address
