Your Home Airport Complaints

At OXR the school district is building a new school across the street, after they closed the other school because they said the airport was too unsafe.

We also could use a little bigger runway. Its 5800 feet but 1200 displaced for a church tower 1.5 miles on final. But an earthquake took out the church tower, but they still wont move the threshold back. The jet operators and skywest have asked for it moved back but you know politics.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.....

Her new thing now is altitude alerts on approaches. If she's the local controller, and you're shooting the VOR/DME 7, count on getting an "Seneca 76RM, altitude alert" or something similar. You're above the MDA (in fact, most of the time, I'm still DESCENDING to MDA when she tells me), so I don't know what's going on. I just say "Roger" and ignore her most of the time now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'd like to see SNA expanded a bit, maybe get a little more variety.

Yeah it's great fun touching down and then 'rounding the turn on two wheels so we don't run into the freeway /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My other grip is Phx - I travel on Am West on a weekly basis and that airport, especially for a hub SUCKS. It's Ok if you need something before you get through security but if you're just connecting between terminals (a) it's a treck to get from one terminal to the other (anyone ever come in on B23 and had to make it to A23 in 7 minutes?!?!) and (b) there are NO services except for a couple of Burger Kings and Cinnabons.

Even more degrading is coming in on AmWest into Atl. You're at the far end of the "D" concourse and it's like the red-headed step child concourse. There's nothing there and it's barely even carpeted.... which would be fine, if you never saw how the other half lives, i.e. the Delta concourses! It's like Disneyland!!!

I always thought the Terminal 4 International Concourse was always the empty-looking one.

All that stuff is alot nicer than what Terminal 1 used to be, though.

Degrading? You need to stop taking airline terminals so personally. Besides the Delta concouses have looked like a third world country this summer as they undergo an airconditioning upgrade.

Biggest compaint about ATL? Not enough taxiways. Not even close.

With all the construction in ATL is no wonder that delays are plentiful. And I wonder what genius decided to wait until the middle of the summer to replace the air in the concourse. Last time I checked ATL is in Ga and it gots hot and humid here in the summer. That person should be flogged !!!!!!!

What is the deal with all the construction going on a the airports. Yesterday I went ATL-SLC-PHX-ATL and I knew they were working in ATL but both SLC and PHX had taxiway and terminal construction going on. If airlines are losing money and slowing down why all the construction. Did someone not get a memo or is the airline industry fooling us....hmmm? I know when we left PHX there were 25 non revs who didnt get on. Thank God for senority, plus the downgrade of A/C didnt help. But the agent told me all their flights from there leave full.

LOL, yeah I know... my private instructor was/is named Tim, and he taught out of and lived near 4a7.

Answer: Airlines are losing money, but they are not slowing down. Airlines don't finance construction projects, the cities do, then the airlines pay leases. Even airlines in financial trouble want their facilites to be good because they know it effects their sales and service, so they encourage new construction. Also the cities are desperate to not let their facilites get behind, because in the coming shakeout they want their airport to be a hub survivor.

It's almost as if they are trying to help their airlines along by giving them the best facilites they can. And also attract new airlines to their airport. In ATL, for example, the city would consider it suicide not to build the new ATL international facility. No matter what happens to big D, they want the surviving entity to say, "yeah, we have got to keep that ATL hub and that international gateway".

Dave you know as well as I do that the int'l terminal or another period was going to have to be built to accomodate the growth. Airtrain is busting at the seams and really Delta needs more gate space also. I just thought it was ironic that the 3 cities I was in yesterday all had it going on. At least SLC and PHX had air conditioning unlike ATL

Must've been on vacation? Have a good time?

We just got back from South Carolina. On S3B I don't see much non-revving in my furture. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have been on vacation since July 14th. My dad had been in Alaska fishing so we decided to meet him in SLC and fly back together. Nothing else really going on here. Had to go PHX to get home though. The only time he got bumped on his S3B was in DFW. It was the end of a Mary Kay convention. But once we got to SLC he got to ugrade to an S3 with me. He buddy is on an S4 and last time I checked was still in ANC. He told me the folks in ANC were awful. The girl showed up at the gate at 12 am for a 1225 depart time. He said at 1230 she finally made an announcement that the flight was waiting on F/A's who had to be flown in on another carrier and the flight would leave at 230. She then left that gate and came back at 210 to start working. A non rev gate agent wound up helping her get the flight loaded and people seats. He said the non rev agent was the last to board but I told him dont worrry she had her seat as soon as she logged on.....and they wonder why folks cuss gate agents out.

My complaint for PMP is them not ever returning my emails and unfriendly on the phone. They are only friendly if you have your aircraft there and are paying for a service.
