What are all your guys complaints about your home airports. I know at BDL there is all of maybe 8/9 airlines. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spin2.gif

Hello 747,

SJC (San Jose, CA) tore down the GA terminal & used the adjacent parking / ramp area for a runway extension project a few years back without provided replacements for them. They're basically chasing all of the low end GA aircraft off of the airport. And, of course, they pestered Larry Ellison (Oracle CEO) enough to get him to base his jet elsewhere by saying that since his new jet was over a certain weight (they use MGTOW as a basis for a what is a noise ordinance) he couldn't use the airport during the nightly airline curfew.

Regards,

JR

Lol, KSDL where should I begin? Don't get me started! Pilot602 you wanna take this one? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Our airport is run buy a bunch of rednecks that have no interest in aviation and don't give a damn if the airport is succesful. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

Only having 5,000 ft of runway (5,280 to the south if you use the stopway into your takeoff calculations)... There is room enough to give us 5,600-5,800 ft. if they wanted to... Would make all the difference in the world for us...

I'd like to see SNA expanded a bit, maybe get a little more variety. Oh well, that's not going to happen, not in my lifetime.

Oh, and what's with all the swarms of bees. Anybody know what I'm talking about? I've come across them like 3 or 4 times already. Pax in the jets must see me running and think I'm a loon. Just hope they aren’t the killer ones either.

Include BUR in that 'need to expand' list too. It is really scary when you are in a CRJ that just landed and after slowing down enough to turn on the taxiways you see that fence on Hollywood Way about 100 ft. from the window.
That's why I'd choose LAX anyday /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmm...PRC. Where to begin?

A big one is there is too much traffic for what the airport is really capable of. We're a Class D airport, but the 2nd busiest airport in AZ (37th in the US I think). The controllers here do a fabulous job, but the area is just saturated with student traffic. People usually do a decent job to keep things moving efficiently, but occasionally you'll get the folks that take too long on the radio, or people that can't get off the runway quickly enough.

Syracuse, ill agree with no mainline service. Slow TSA working full 727 flights with only 3 screeners (dont check bags). And too many old Bae-146s going to ORD flying for UEX.

Well before I moved from Cleveland, my biggest complaint about Burke Lakefront (KBKL) is that the city does stupid, stupid things with the airport.

Like closing it down to do the Grand Prix.

Or using the terminal for antique shows or for paint shows.

And then there's the city's plan to turn the abandoned aviation high school (big building, nice hangers, etc. etc.. Would make a killer FBO or terminal building) into a homeless shelter.

Now I'm all for helping the homeless, but do we really want them living on an airport? Or better yet, do we want a shelter that anyone who says their homeless can get access to. I mean I know that the terrorists probably aren't targeting Cleveland, but BKL does get big jets in there (mainly from visiting sports teams).

I mean this building is RIGHT on the airport.

My only other complaint is about a flight school there who doesn't seems to think it's necessary to work on radio technique. It's a controlled field people. You should be able to talk to ground and tower. Esspecially if you're a solo student.

Okay that's about it.

Later.

Newport, RI: "Mobsters and Lobsters". Anybody that has spent any time up here knows what I am talking about. Let's just put it this way, one of my students is Antonio V., a short Italian guy who is a general contractor. I won't say anything else or else I'll end up in the witness protection program. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On top of that, RI politics, airport too small, fuel farm doesn't work, phones are horrible, no broadband connection, ei. weather services are non-existent (I know about FSS, but when teaching students weather it's better to show them the reports.), local pilots are horrible, I could go on for hours... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bandit.gif
