You might be a CFI if...

You might be a CFI when ... you can draw your practice area without even trying.

You might be a CFI when ... you can tell how a well steep turns will be performed just by watching the clearing turns....
Sad thing is, I think I could do that.

Try the 301 Compact! Same pen, pocket sized! (I can't remember the model number... Something with an "M")

EDIT: Just googled it. It's just the F-301 Compact

Not a CFI yet but; You actually know the model pen you use. I know the trucks I drive, bikes I ride, and plane I fly....but a pen???I didnt even know they have model numbers. Missed that in the Flight Instructors Handbook...Guess I better go re-read it :(

You might be a CFI if...

...you have been using every creative way to get free lunch from the NIFA competition, and the fruits of your labor have been 3 (so far) of the best lunches you've had at work as a CFI.

...during the short-field and power-off 180 landing events, you watch everything happen, only to wish that you had not graduated last spring so you could show these folks how it's done!

There should be a "You might be on the NIFA Flight team if..."

Yeah, no joke. Or a "You can tell someone was on the NIFA Flight Team if..." thread. I have worked a few times with a student who was on the team, and ever since the competition (in which he didn't place in anything) he has questioned every single thing I've tried to teach him, and honestly believed he knew more about flying than I did. A quick short field landing and power off 180 competition fixed that pretty quickly. But the ego they develop...wow.

If you try to rent a car and ask how many hours is the checkout.............:D

Ooh! CFI candidate! Let the hazing begin! List all the defense mechanisms from memory! GO!

...You might be a CFI if you can't help but try and confuse the heck out of poor souls working on their CFI with the most obscure questions you can think of, just because it was done to you.

People like you are the reason I didn't tell anyone I was working on my CFI until I got my CFI

That just made me spit my drink all over the keyboard! That's awesome. I will be showing that to all the CFIs that have to deal with these egos full time. Thanks for that! Yeah. All I had to do was tell him it was landings like he did with me, was the reason they lost. There was a reason they were trying to recruit CFIs onto the team. Unfortunately, none of us wanted to actually pay to fly those aircraft for practice and what not. They'll learn one day :D

You might be an MEI if you've ever waited for the Hobbs to click over before feathering the right engine.

Fortunately our twins' Hobbs are connected to the electrical master. It does crack me up when it flips over during the preflight inspection, and your student tries to argue with dispatch that the numbers were wrong. It was correct when you showed up to the aircraft...

That sort of takes the whole point out of flight team, as my flight team friends stated. Many did it just for the free hours.

I do it because I want to win at something, I enjoy traveling places, and it's a great chance to meet other pilots, etc. We only get one hour per week to practice. I won first place at 3 events at our regionals competition, and at Nationals I won 1st place at CRM. Also everyone at our school does not realize what it is that we do, and they all think it's stupid and you don't do anything fun. So if me, and a few other people on the team quit we wouldn't have much of a team... We barely had 10 people at nationals.
