Exactly. How annoying it must be to deal with someone who gets zero joy out of life except to count his shekels and put down, nay emotionally abuse, anyone who has a differing opinion than his own.

I've been a member for almost 12 years, these jokesters come and go, usually committing suicide by mod, and then life goes on for us normal people.

I've only been a member for about 2 year ( since I've started flying professionally), and a barely ever post. I think one possibly 2 people on here actually know me in real life. I have been frequenting the website for probably 5 year. That said, everything I know about the flow of the aviation industry, info about various companies, etc has been from here, so far it all great good info. My first/ current post cfi'ing job was obtained through this forum. I really hope Doug and what he build here doesn't have to go down this way. :/
 
I'm no Expert, but my sense was that Derg wasn't so much threatening to shut down the Interwebz (and let's face it, for most of us, this is our homepage), as threatening to withdraw his cuddly appendages a bit, due to some unknown screen-person being what one can only imagine was a colossal (insert vile term here).

Which brings me back to my hypothetical subway scenario...
