Derg,
You don't have to convince me you have the power to run this group however you please. I accept that.
Also, the following is NOT a negotiation.....It is pleasant discourse
Ok......Then since you created and run the community, you would naturally have access to all site statistics. I looked at prior pages....My impression it is a small community.
You have server bills....Advertising pays for that? Of course, you could be very generous and fund all this out of you own pocket ( for which I would applaud you ). In that case, I would completely understand the rigorous moderation. I stir the pot.....this generates interest....which generates eyeballs and ad revenue. It also will increase the size and vitality of the community over time. But again, perhaps you have no need of that.
I view this subforum and site as a place for new information and discussion...and some of that discussion may get fairly impassioned.
When I started reading this forum, I observed it seems mainly to serve as a networking site for newbies. If that is what is to constitute the essence of the group, then so be it. After all, one way or the other, you are the one paying the bills.
But looking at Dispatcher forums over the Web, most of them are pretty dead. This one seems to have great promise.
Now I understand you object to my posts.....I can see how that might be. I tend to write with a dark passion. This comes from my near decade of being a line Dispatcher. The workaday life of a Dispatcher in not particularly one of roses and unicorns. It is filled with discord and conflict. Between pilots and MX controllers and managers and crew sked, everyone has an agenda. And that agenda can be very hazardous to a Dispatcher's license and career. THAT is a reality that is not being conveyed here. I have attempted to do that. The SOC/OCC/Airline is filled with good people but there are many who will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat. I have tried to convey that. I admit that I am not a professional writer but I do my best to convey the environment. So there is that.
Also I notice the newbies often come in with their individual agenda....and are providing little for the help and opinions that they get from more experienced Dispatchers. I also get the impression so many have the idea..."If I can just get one of the _______ ( Fill in the blank, United, Delta et al ) Dispatchers to hand carry my resume, I am in !!!!!" Eh no.....not the way it works. Aggravating to those of us who have paid their dues as working Dispatchers. Way too much..."How do I quickly and cheaply get licensed and hired at the dream job so I can get the big bucks? " Not enough, what does the job entail and do I have the temperament and talent for it?
I felt I owed you an explanation of my motivation behind the posts.
Again, NOT a negotiation but a fresh approach and perhaps some passion would be valuable to this group.
I have always felt a hardnose approach to life is useful. My posts tend to reflect that.
I await your reply.
