X-Jet Emergency

COS tower had me go around because an MD-80 was getting too close...guess I was going too slow.

I know it is nothing major in the aviation world. It's still pretty cool to see the whole proccess of an emergency landing live. At least for me it is.

This is great, on CNN Head. news the woman anchor just suggested they may be trying to decide whether or not to attempt a belly landing!!! Yeah, that's much better than grinding a few rims. These people are complete idiots!!! But thanks for the heads up, I'm enjoying this.

did anyone see the clip that was 'recorded earlier' of the fire truck spraying the runway? It didn't quite look like foam, and I thought they don't normally do that anymore anyway, why would they spray the runway with anything else, and so early?(apparently)

Sure do have a ton of ambulances, hope they don't do anymore 'fly-by's or I'd think the passengers would get more nervous.

Yeah, the media blather has run the gamut from belly landings (?), to foaming the runway (??), to having the passengers all move to one side or the other of the airplane (???), to worring about the thunderstorms in San Antonio that may be there in four hours.
My god, what is the appropriate emoticon for this?
:insane: perhaps? Maybe  ?? What about :banghead:???? A good 'ol :whatever:?
Ah, they're all so fitting!! How to choose?

Oh great, another minor aviation incident the media can sensationalize...

Actually no. My understanding is that these guys simulate these types of scenarios all the time. Isn't it nice to actually see it real time? Sure, no one's wishing for any injuries, but this is a nice training film happening real time.

. . .and the newscasters are correct. The pilot just moved up to the big leagues. . .or, at a minimum, a large raise.

Landed without even a spark AND on the center line! Now that's what I call professional! You guys were right! Uneventful landing!

Will the media ever hire a real aviation consultant? I am so tired of the media trying to turn a non-event into something major.

The crew did a great job...

Thats nothing... I just had an engine failure on takeoff, Engine Fire, Roll Control jam... among other things... TODAY! Oh wait.. that was my Dash 8 Simulator checkride.... I passed! Cannot WAIT for this training stuff to be over!

On another note - I loved how the MSNBC correspondent was speculating that the tire blowout was because the pilots may have been dragging the brakes and it was a result of hot brakes (possible) but you don't know that! I do belive it was debris on the runway that blew out the concorde tires not hot brakes! Everybody is an expert...
