X-Jet Emergency

On CNN right now. An X-jet ERJ blew a tire on take-off and is now live on tv trying to land. I wonder if it as JCer?

They originally said it was a "Brazilian airliner". I thought it was VARIG or Tam coming into MIA or something. That's like saying a French airliner is doing an emergency landing at EWR when it's actually a Jetblue A320.

OMG NOT A TIRE OMG!!!!!

THEY'RE GOING TO CRASH! :sarcasm

ugh. Damn media. They'll be just fine.

must be an east coast thing cuz it not on the news on the west coast, it cant be that big of a deal tho, of course theyll have all the fire trucks and such, but we had a 747 that blew two tires, it landed without any real big problems. but it might be a little differnt tho with an erj.

hehehhe YOU ROCK Amber!! :nana2:

Interesting how CNN is covering this ain't it? like they don't have anything else better to cover? i mean really, it's not going to raise the pilot pay at all....so what's the point? oh yea... drama...

wow...and that's news? I was trying to blow out the tires on a Cherokee with my bad landings yesterday and I couldn't even get Fox News to pick it up!

So that we can learn something from this. How much would you go about telling the passengers? I know you dont wanna go "nope, everything is fine". And you dont want to ge them too worked up since it is just a blown tire. Is this one of the "we're having trouble with the landing gear so we're going to turn around" things?

I shot a spanky visual into KBOI this afternoon with an inop vasi, no vertical or lateral guidance and I'm flabbergasted "Live at Five" wasn't on the scene.

The humanity! The nerve! :)

Speaking of that, anyone know why they shut down Salt Lake for about 20 minutes today?

:sarcasm: our lovely newscasters in msp are saying the left tires are shredded down to the rims.......breaking news.........next at 5

Actually we were departing when ramp said, "The TSA in it's infinite wisdom has stopped all pushbacks and departures" so we say in the middle of the ramp for about 15-20.

Then the TSA let us all push (TSA?!) and we didn't hear another peep about it.

maybe they were goin on lunch break :-P

Well based on the fly-by...the only problem i could see is that IAH might have to fill in some potholes. There's no rubber on either tire of the left main.

If it were one tire on the mains, no biggie. But both on one side? Could be a problem. I hope not. Good luck guys.

Edit: Now CNN 'aviation expert' John King is talking about the problems associated with loss of hydraulics.. wtf? A moment ago he was pontificating on why they haven't dumped fuel-- from a ERJ145. Dude needs a :sitaware: stapled to his forehead.
