WTF??????????

Seriously dude, I'm really diggin' on Speakerboxxx right now. I really like what Andre and Big Boi have to say too, it's not just a bunch of mindless crap.

Is rap even considerd music??? IMHO rap is just full of non-talented people who put different words to the same beat over and over again or they cut a deal with a successful, talented artist to remix a song. Now THATS talent.....

Do you really want to have this conversation?

You don't listen to a lot of different styles of music eh? People have told me the same thing about jazz. I know that their full of it, just as I know you don't quite know what you're talking about it. But it's cool man, to each their own. I HATE country. It's still music, but man I hate it.

Really, nothing is new anymore except for the way that it's presented. There are some pretty silly rappers out there, but there are silly jazz musicians and rock artists, as well.

I like all music, and I choose based upon content and originality.

Do you know who Outkast is??

Outkast puts it down!!! Every album, they prove again and again that they're unlike any other group that's ever existed!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm an Outkast fan myself... my only with their music is that it's so good that they over-play it on the radio... so it's pretty easy to get sick after you hear the same songs over and over

How is this article related to aviation???

[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, it was in an aviation magazine! That's enough for me...

Outkast is damn good. Andre cracks me up with all the weird clothing he wears. It actually looks cool on him, I doubt it would on most.

For those of you too young to remember, they started out as 100% rappers!!!

Aren't they still???

Don't recall them ever putting out ballads.

I saw a stand up routine done by a really funny heavyset black comedienne that really cracked me up. She was talking about how she was getting bad looks from the guy at the light next to her that was driving a volvo or something like that because the bass was loud. She rolls down her window and she starts singing opera. Perception is not everything.

This just proves a point that racism does exist in the world. I have many friends who are African American, Haitian, Cuban, you name it. I married a girl who is Asian and I see racism and stereotyping with her everyday!! It makes me sick, even the little jokes and pokes of fun at other races. It happens everywhere, on this forum, in the streets at the workplace and IN MAGAZINES!

Don't let this guy hold you down man. Don't let him get to you in anyway! We are people living a dream and yes I have a Dream too!

In conclusion to this Hijack I'm writing, I leave you with these parting words. You have one life to live! Live YOUR DREAM!!DO NOT sweat the negativity! Let the negativity motivate you to be the absolute best you can be. I like a good challenge, I like proving people wrong and I love it when the odds are stacked against me and I succeed!

It's a little disconcerting to find that disliking rap or voicing an opinion against it makes one racist. Since racism is the belief in the superiority of one race over another and not just musical opinions I am curious to know something:

In a melting pot like America where pop culture is about 80% devoted to racial stereotypes (ever watched any of the more successful stand-up comedians?) where is the line on acceptable comments vs. unacceptable.

I say this because I've had a hell of a time over the years. First hurdle was the feminism thing. I would be very careful in how I interacted with female employees. Then they would turn around and embarrass me with some lewd joke.

A few weeks ago I flew with a Korean ancestory flight attendant. I know this because she was constantly making self-depracating jokes about being Korean. She had a whole routine she did about it. If I had responded in kind would I be racist?

It gets confusing sometimes. Humor seems the best way to handle this whole thing. And I don't mind jokes about old fat white men or captains, etc. But I feel like I'm stepping into a mine field if I try to join in. And man I hate rap. If you can't make fun of that what can you make fun of? You have watched Dave Chapelle, right?
