World's Highest Paying Airlines

I'm sorry that I said that to her (how am I to know that she's a lady?).....

But I still say: "You guys have got it made, what more do you want?"

Mr. Official, will they fine me, suspend me a couple games?

Yea, those pesky pilots have it made. What with their concessionary contracts, reduction in pay and work rules.

What about the air traffic controllers, They took a 40% pay cut, can't really use vaction time or sick time without being penalized, new B scale salaries and working longer hours, and can't even strike.

Hmmmm, before you bitch, remember there is always someone in a worse situation than you, or rather your father in this case.

....I wonder how they feel on this matter.....

I think one should note the following... (Correct me if I'm wrong)

-Southwest is the ONLY Airline that didnt go into the red after 9/11
-They are also the only Airline who's benifits package did not suffer post 9/11 (401K)

I think these things should be factored in with that. Business stratagy like SW's definately puts job security woes to rest when the industry is at it's worst.

....Sorry Mr. Official....

Ask a United mechanic where his pension is, and you'll know my father's situation...(at least the ones at SFO)

And it was a "smack in the mouth", not a pop.
See a "pop" is sugar-coated version of a punch. Someone gets a pop to the mouth, and they rub their lips and say "Why did you do that?"
But a smack, a smack is a full-fledged blow, intent on making silence. Someone gets smacked in the mouth, and they cover their swollen and/or bleeding mouth. They say nothing, as they know why they received such justice....

Does that get me another technical Mr. Official?

Wow.

Being a mod is not about being "Mr. Official" or being some stick-weilding authority figure. It's about keeping the forum's discussions headed in a productive, informational, friendly direction. That's what this site is all about. Please, take a step back and lose the attitude.

What you said piqued me a little, and I would've gotten a little confrontational (9 months ago, I would've brushed it off).

What is going on here?

I'm real close to changing my signature to:

"You ever get smacked in the MOUTH for talking too much?"

or

"A big mouth always has room for a fist."

....Sorry Mr. Official....

You seriously need to work on your anger issues, and I'd also suggest reconsidering your little martyr complex. Being an "angry young man" will not help anyone's situation, least of all your own. If you want to get anywhere in this profession you will need to learn how to act like a professional, not a street thug.

There are a lot of people on this website whose sole reason for being here is to help people like you. Don't whiz in their Cheerios.

Are you sure you weren't trying to log into a.net or flightinfo? You might fit in better with all the little kids and the attitude problems on one of those sites. It seems to me, you have a very serious attitude problem and like SteveC (and others) stated ......you better get it in check fast or you are going nowhere in aviation.

Hey Mods........maybe this joker needs a temp ban or something????? His continual questioning of the "technicals" is almost begging you to take action.

Now, on a serious note, I'd be willing to bet there is still time for you to step up and apologize for your attitude problems. We have a very good natured group of mods (Mr. Officials......LOL and Ms.'s ;)) here and they'd probably let you slide. You're young and you'll learn.....the question becomes: HOW SOON?

Didn't read the whole thing (as usual), but I'm willing to guess that as long as we've got young guys coming up while yelling and screaming, "Pilots make too much money, I'd work for HALF that and be happy!" then capitalism says that the wages are going to get driven down by these cats.

Maybe he doesn't realize that and hopefully this kid sticks around and learns something instead of getting pissed off that he's got a bunch of professional pilots telling him that he's wrong...

There is also a pretty big gap between the cost of living in Europe and the cost of living in the U.S.A.

I won't even get into the tax difference!

You are in Greece, right.

So, you have a 19% VAT (It was 18% the last time I was there, but I understand that it was raised to 19% recently, when Germany raised theirs to 19%)

And.... What, 44% tax for income in the highest tax bracket, which I believe is not more then 47,000-50,000 Euro.

So tell me again how much better off the pilots are over there again?
They might make more but I guarantee they take home less, and it isn't about what you earn, but what you keep, which has been pointed out several times in this thread.

Well let me give you an example in Greece:

The average salary in Greece is 600 Euros

So when pilots here are pulling in close to 7000 Euros a month we are doing just fine ... living expenses might be more, but when compared to other paying jobs I know that I have one of the highest paid and well respected jobs in my country. When I have friends in US starting with 20k a year I find it just ridiculous!

Doug 350k in Paris?? When you start flying to LGAV i'll get you a huge apartment with jacuzzi and pool in Athens!

....I wonder how they feel on this matter.....

It's a really good idea, from time to time, to review the core principles that helped jetcareers become a place you wanted to register at and participate in: The Rules

I reckon I should also add in: "Don't post angry". Primarily because when you do, people that might have said, "That kid's alright, I hope I have an opportunity to help him one day" quickly migrate to "With anger issues like that, I don't want to risk my reputation by endorsing him for an interview".

It happens, seriously. I've seen it. Hell, I've even done it.

OK, I see where you are coming from. Now for the cold water!

BTW, let me start by saying that I am not trying to put down your country or disrespect you or it.

With that out the way…..

I think your comparison with Europe and the U.S.A, should be more like Greece and the U.S.A. 7000/month Euro in Greece, yeah, you are ballin!!

But let’s be honest, Greece is, well, poor! Now I have been to Greece a bunch of times, and I have been to Athens a bunch of times as well. It is a nice place, nice people, good food, lots of history, lots of cats:rolleyes:!

Would I live there, HELL NO! Greece is the second poorest country in western Europe (Last I checked). And it shows when you are there. Now, when you have a high paying job in a country where you have a majority of low paid fishermen as the population, then yeah, you’ll stand out. But Greece is not Europe.

Example, I lived in Hamburg for the last 3 years until this March. I had my own company and earned over 10000 euro/month as a minimum. You know what I was in Hamburg? BROKE! Now, Germany is the largest economy in Europe, and Hamburg is the richest city in Germany, so relatively speaking my earnings to where I lived was about par.

My wife and I tried to buy an apartment once and were chased out the bank! I also know lots of pilots in Europe, in The Netherlands, Germany, and they are nothing special. They don’t even consider themselves anything special, with regards to their salary or status.

My point, everything is relative. And you can’t use your country as a benchmark for comparison of a whole continent.

....Sorry everyone, I feel terrible. I wasn't feeling so hot yesterday, I had too much crap on my mind, and I guess you guys caught the business end of it...

All I can truly say is I'm sorry, and thanks to the moderators for not blasting me out of here!

...My mom said that that I should go see a psychiatrist based what's been going on, and I may take that advice...

......Sorry again...

Seriously.

You can be the nicest guy, throw the best party, be the best friend, a wonderful philanthropist, the saver of baby harp seals but if you continually 'post angry', well, all else is moot.

Anyone want to start a thread in the lav about run-ins with 19 year old California kids?

Why can't everyone just be from Texas?
