They generally do the same thing, as single seat models.

MCAS Miramar. That just doesn't sound right.......

I agree....I remember going there as a kid with my old man when it was still NAS, and watching all the Tomcats flying around. I'm sure it is not the same Miramar from the glory days of 1986 and Top Gun

It's a whole nother world from what it was when it was "Fighter Town USA". We used to ride our bikes down to the flight line and just watch all the ops for a while or grab a bite from the snack bar in Ops (the tower/terminal). I was able to take course there before I got out of the Navy. It had a entirely different feel to it. No more nostalgic feeling to it. Congrats on those gold wings!:beer:
 
I do have a sneaking suspicion that I am going to need to keep my hair cut a little shorter for the time being......
 
A very big day indeed. Congratulations !!!

While on a recent SAN layover, I rented a car and headed for Miramar. I drove around the base and for the most part all of the old haunting grounds (O Club, Exchange, Theater) are still there and look the same. I wanted to go eat in OPS (the old tower) but the restaurant is no longer there. Base Officer Housing is all new and looks very nice should that ever be an option. I drove by my old squadron spaces and was able to vividly re-live walking through those doors 20 plus years ago, living the life as a young Naval Aviator. To anyone watching me, I probably looked like an old starry eyed lost soul driving around my AVIS rental car trying to reclaim a small piece of earlier glory days - perhaps they were right?

Miramar is a great place in a beautiful community. You will love it and all of us at JC are proud of you for your significant accomplishment.

Congrats man, this is awesome!

The F/A-18 is my favorite fighter. Get a lotta time and apply to fly those blue jets. :rawk:

I can only thank the lucky stars out there that Miramar is NOTHING LIKE 1986 Fightertown, USA. TOP GUN, worst movie...


San Diego is a great place to be stationed. PM if you need a bar to head to that isn't full of Jarheads or Squids.
