Wichita Mid-Continent Airport

Check out this link. This is a list of storm spotters in the field with live feeds of what they are seeing. The tornado on the east side of OKC is a monster.

That is so cool! I'm watching 5 different feeds right now on monitor #2

Last year I rode this out in Lancaster TX. I have new respect for these storms. This is only EF2 damage. Scare the piss out of me.

I remember seeing that storm on the news. They had the live feed of the tornado taking out those trailers.

Fatalities now in Shawnee, OK

That's terrible. It wasn't a fast moving storm and they forecast this outbreak beginning on Thursday. I don't understand how people still don't seek proper cover.

I saw that tornado on a few of the spotters cam's and it looked every bit of an EF4, if not bigger.

We get supercells basically weekly in Kansas in the summer. Stop talking about stuff that you don't know about. Seriously, stop watching CNN, this is nothing more than a regular summer storm front moving thru.

Next time there is a 4.5 earthquake in Socal, I'll have to post a play by play for hours.

California has earthquakes everyday of all different sizes including 4.5 cause little or no damage, many people don't feel them, last just a few seconds. Tornadoes are frequent considering 85 to 90 percent of tornadoes in the world are in the US east of the Rockies.

I'm in NW Arkansas and very concerned about our weather tonight. We have no storm shelter and no basement.
Yeah, a basement is a must in that region. I grew up in the Midwest, and, I'm always weirded out when I visit other parts of the country where basements are uncommon. Brings back a lot of memories (sitting here in a hotel in Scranton, PA) to hear non-Midwesterners freaking out about a Thunderstorm/Tornado, and Midwesterners making fun of them for it.

Jim Cantore is on the ground chasing this tornado, and I think he has made cumsies about five times so far....or at least it sounds like it
Weather Channel rooks. The real crazy guy is Johnny Rowlands (Helo reporter). I don't remember what local KC channel he reports for, but I remember him filming a large oil storage facility fire in downtown KC, then panning around to film a large thunderstorm moving over Olathe, KS (about 20 NM SW), and thinking "he's going to get hisself killed!"

STORY HIGHLIGHTS...

Not to jump on the fholbert bashing bandwagon (It's definitely newsworthy when peoples lives and homes are threatened), but CNN will report on anything just to hear themselves talk. This is literally a weekly occurrence in KS. The only reason I say anything is I just get so tired of the inane drivel that comes out of what were reputable new sources at one time. *rant over*

Johnny flies out of OJC for channel 9. Real nice guy.

Yeah, I heard a rumor that he was involved in a project looking to start a helo training progam through my Alma Mater in Warrensburg. I'm kinda curious to get back down there and see how/if it went. Sounds interesting, but I can't see a lot of demand for it (too expensive).

The hangar that Johnny is in was built very recently. There is a helicopter school there in the same building and they are always flying. Just looked at the website and it is Johnny's company.

Edit to Add: His website also says that he entered a partnership with UCM.

Just passed over my house it had 5 minutes of real hard rain but no hail thankfully. Took me about 15 minutes of trying to figure out how to get my truck in the garage but she made it.

Just got done talking to my wife and another member from KC and all it did was rain a bit. Luckily for KC, those individual storms banded together and really weakened before hitting KC. The storms that do a lot of damage and go on forever are the super-cells (like the one between OKC and TUL right now) out away from the main cluster of storms. When they are away from the main cluster, they get all the moist air to themselves and go on for very long periods. Once the storms band together, they end up sharing the warm, moist air and tend to weaken by a substantial margin.
