Don't worry. It actually took me over four years to get my PPL. Granted, I decided along the way that I was not going to pursue a career in professional aviation (I finished it because I was well on my way and wanted to protect the "investment" that I made in it). But it can be extremely difficult to make ends meet in college, not to mention throwing getting your PPL in on top of that. People are competitive and demeaning to their peers like that in many walks of life, but its usually those people who are the real jerks. One of my buddies, who goes to law school, says some students tear the pages out of books so other students can't read them. Its crap, but what do you do? Just keep plugging away and you'll get to where you need to be sometime in the not-too-distant future.
What do you fly over at STC? 152's? I'm headed over there tomorrow to hopefully put some time in on a 172 and fly over SJU, where I go to school. Looks like it might rain though...
