Which ATP location?

I went down thursday and friday to look at ATP Jacksonville, Daytona and Aerosim in Sanford. ATP seems like it's the best bang for your buck. All the locations I looked at had Part 141 training for international students. ATP and Aerosim had a TON of international kids training.

Aerosim has made the DCA system a joke... Please don't waste money there

LGB all the way. SOCAL is so much fun, and it's a great place to learn to fly. It teaches you how to deal with busy airspace and lot's of other people flying around. Weather is AWESOME! And the instructors that were there when I went through were great. PHX is nice, IF you like flying in a toaster oven in the summer time. Riverside is like ghetto side of LA, but I heard that their DPE was a pretty nice guy.

Stay away from DAB. Go somewhere good like Fort Lauderdale. DAB is so depressed and forget the girl scene there. Do your self a favor and go to Fort Lauderdale. I wouldn't wish living in DAB to my worst enemy.

Forget girls in general if you go to ATP :D

I liked the DAB location a lot, and I really like the instructors. That is what is important to me. I couldn't care less about the city, I'm going to fly my ass off and stuff my ass off for 5 months. I'm not worried about the girl scene either. My girlfriend got a job in Daytona and will be supporting me while I'm flying. I did the college thing, I've partied all that. My time at ATP will be all business.

Good attitude my friend. Get it done and get down to instructing.

Keep us all updated here on your program.. And let me know if you have any other Q's

I'm looking forward to it, I'm a little bit apprehensive but excited. I'm just looking for a place to live in Daytona. Any suggestions?

I understand the girl part is not important but I would honestly reconsider going to Daytona. Nothing against ATP just that Daytona as a whole is junk and the airport. I guarantee you will end up paying a few thousand extra in taxi time and at DAB. Taxi times can be very long waiting for takeoff. No fun paying $150 an hour when you number 6 for takeoff with 10 in the pattern. I flew at DAB and wouldn't recommend it due to the money. If you want to get serious then don't go to DAB.

GKY rocked. I'd go as far away from JAX as I could.

JAX is the headquarters and your.. experience.. will be better elsewhere.

I didnt realize that, I had just figured it was all a fixed price.

its is a fixed price. that's what so great about the program. however much that time will be taxi and holding to get back in. DAB is the flight training mecca of the world. Save the money and go to fxe or dal, mesa and many others. to maximize your training you need to go to a slower pace airport so you get more time to work on maneuvers. more time you spend waiting on the ground less time you get to practice the maneuvers. Dab is like the JFK of flight training. stay away unless money isn't an issue.

Oh I bet you'll find a night where one of the guys in your group brought $4,500 in cash to the program and then you all wind up at some sleazy local joint, where your buddy gets hammered and starts throwin' that $4,500 around like it's nothing.. or maybe a day where you find yourself at the local "we have the hottest wings on the planet" type joint and two guys duel it out, after signing "if this kills its my own fault" waivers..

95% of my time at ATP was all business. 5% of the time, we had a good time. ;)

You know I wish I had though more about that before I decided on Daytona. I'm already committed to Daytona at this point. I figure it can't be any worse then Charleston Intl when I was doing some flight training at an FBO here. I do want to get serious and I am very serious about this program. I'll make it work and get what I want and need to get out of it regardless of the location.

I'm sure I'll have some downtime with fellow students and with my girlfriend being there I'm sure we'll have some beach days. I'm just meaning to say I'm not caught up in the location for the locations. I'm there to train and I liked Daytona. I'm sure I'll have as much fun at Daytona as I will anywhere else.
