Where I've Been...

...For those of you who have been wondering, here is the Readers Digest version of why I've been absent for about 3 or so months:

Divorce.

At the end of May, beginning of June, my (now ex) wife informed me that she was unhappy......and then eventually done...with our marriage.

We were together for 9 years and married 7. (no "itch" jokes please...they are not funny nor true in any sense of the word...thank you.)

As of approximately 9 a.m. this morning, I became officially "un-married."

We have a(n) (almost) 5 year old and a 1 year old. Thankfully, they will know/remember nothing different.

Obviously, my absence from JC was due to my need to focus on what is happening now.

Some of you know and I thank you for your encouragement throughout this process!!

In short - I'm moving forward and looking forward to what's ahead.

God bless you all!

Stan,
Very sorry to hear this.
Hope all is well for you and your children.

Holy cow. :(

R2F, you've got my digits man, lemme know if I can do anything for you.

Wow! Sorry about that Stan.:( Take care of what ya got to take care of. Don't worry about us and come by when you can. We'll all be here!:)

Damn man. I am so sorry to hear about this. Best advice I can give (not that you asked) is to sit down with a therapist once in a while. It helps TREMENDOUSLY!

:(

Best of luck and hope you are doing okay. Having been through the process once myself, I can honestly say that no matter how bleak things may see at this time, it will get better, and you may find yourself in a better place in the future. I have. Be sure to stay close to your friends, but most importantly your children. Sorry to hear about your circumstances.

Amen! I go at least once a month. I aim for twice a month...and yes, it does help tremendously!

Very sorry to hear that man - I was actually about to post something to see if anyone had heard from you (before I got your PM). Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

I was ten when my parents split and I can remember things rather vividly. I can't recall everything from when I was five, but I remember being stung by bees one time in the park. The brain is just one of those complex things that will store something particularly traumatic if it happens.

Who knows if the 5 year old will remember. I hope he/she doesn't. Just make sure whatever's going on doesn't involve the kids. My parents did that initially and it killed both my brother and me. They'd have grudge matches and try, vaguely, to get us to take sides. Kids can't do that.

Sad to hear man.
I know nothing said, in any way, really helps to soften the pain, but I'm sure everyone here is pulling for you, and there's something to be said for that.

Thanks for the update Stan! I know some of us have been wondering about you.

Keep your chin up. Greener pastures my friend!

Hang in there. Sucks, Sad, and although words don't always help all that much, just know you're not alone.

sorry to hear this man :(

and to further the point of what the others have said, as long as you keep the kids out of it, I think you will eventually find yourself in a better place.
