Rates on hotels in Vegas change by the hour. It's like shopping for an airline ticket. You see one rate at 5pm, search some more, come back and it's higher. And when you go to your favorite porn site, the GoogleAds say "Fly to (Where ever!)"

I try to plan NJC to 'dance around' the big events that drive rates up which makes it hugely hard to please the "What time are we looking at in 2018?" when I can't even book rates more than 10 (ish) months out.

I know it's a pain in the ass and we could certainly plan a more formal, more "official" event, but once we involve room blocks, in-house beverage and catering, the costs go up appreciably. And we all know how pilots are!

Flashbacks of 2010. "$89 block room rate? Dude, that's a rip off rate at The Palms, it's $85 over at Terrible's so I'll just take a cab..."

The Palms was sweet! And you got us no cover into the club.....people were whining about that? What's funny is the guy who stayed at terribles for $85 is complaining about passengers who will go with the cheapest flight with 4 connecting legs on Kayak to save $5.

I guess it shouldn't surprise me. Back when I was at AMF one day after having shared a cab with another freight dog to the day layover hotel for the past month I see him open his bag at the fbo and its full of toilet paper and loose light bulbs. I ask him about it and he seriously thought I was the crazy one cause I don't take all the 60 watt bulbs and toilet paper from the hotel room every day.

That's when hotels start putting crewmembers in the same block of rooms and not replacing the lightbulbs. Nothing like having only ONE functioning light (and it's a ceiling fixture) in the entire room.

Report that crap to HQ.

If I stay in a Marriott hotel and something isn't 100% correct, I give local management one shot and then the next point of contact is the main line and stuff starts happening fast.
