When do WOFT students attend SERE?

Just spend the last two weeks with honor detachment. They told us we would be there a few months, but today I get the call to report tomorrow for the first day of BOLC (or WOBC, same thing). I'm glad to be moving forward. Every week I spend in a bubble here is an extra week added on to my sentence in the purgatory known as Enterprise AL.

WOs are officers too ;-)

I recognize you were tongue in cheek bushmaster, but I sat through a separation board a couple weeks ago for a CW4 who was "asked" by HRC to tender his resignation. The three LTC board members had no idea what the roles and responsibilities of a warrant officer were. 95% of their questions for witnesses were about the responsibilities of a warrant as a commissioned officer. Frustrating to watch, though my friend was retained.

Dave, good luck as you progress through training. If you continue driving past purgatory and make a left at the Cajun pawn shop you'll find hell in the form of leesville, LA. Living at Fort Polk really gave me a different perspective when judging Enterprise. Besides, the freshman class at FSU should be showing up soon. There's some talent to be found down there on the weekends.

Thanks Brett. I'm hoping to avoid Polk at all costs, but something tells me I won't have much say in my first assignment.

I was in Florida a few years ago and got to know some of the local talent, but I'm getting married this fall so at this point they're nothing more than good scenery.

My BOLC class is full of West Pointers. I know exactly what you mean about the confusion between Warrants and "O" grades. They always want to try to interpret the intent of our instructions and do extra work, while we're perfectly satisfied with doing exactly what we're told and going home.

How often do you class up at Rucker?

By that I mean, are there only a few BOLC ->IERW courses that run a year. ie only one per quarter?
Or is it a matter of waiting in the bubble waiting for the magic call to class up?

An IERW class begins every two weeks.

Edit: actually, that was true 12 years ago. If you're really interested I can look up the exact course schedule at work on Monday.

Lately they've been starting every two weeks. Our hold was due to all the 2LTs and guard WO1s being pushed to the front. We just got a huge crop West Point and ROTC grads.

I was supposed to be on hold until at least October, but I got a call to fill in an empty slot. Most of the active duty Warrants in my WOCS class are still on FunDet.

Thanks gents.

Just curious on a possible timetable. I heard scuttlebutt err bubbler!?!(gotta use army terms now...) about possible class dates.

When I went through back in 2010, classes started every two weeks... Here's an early word of advice for those who haven't hit the flight line yet... Study hard. Don't get distracted. Bubbles used to be 4-5 months long and people used to relax more than they should... Army is drawing down now and they are looking for any reason to give you the boot. RA guys are sent off easily compared to NG/RC, I have recently seen guys being eliminated for failing check rides. Before they used to bump you down to another class, looks like they are not doing that anymore. Medical issues are also a similar cause to quickly get rebranched... Good luck guys.

Sat through a brief yesterday from a high up in USAACE. He said the goal for flight school is 13 months and they're running right at 14 months start to finish right now. Not sure if that one is true.

Other flight school tidbit of note was that the priority for spots right now is reserve, guard, then active. This is because some high percentage of reserve guys (70-80% I think he said) are within 3 years of being forced out due to age and time in. I wish I could remember the exact stat because it was staggering.

Mrs. Twyford from HRC is retiring in the next 2 month. She has assigned every aviator on active duty. Thought that was interesting.

You mentioning guard/reserve reminds me of something. After WOCS in 2010 we were asked if anyone wanted to switch from active to guard. Thought it was weird but I recommend doing this. Wish I had done it although it doesn't matter to me anymore...
