I’m surprised no one posted this one yet:

That was a maintenance snafu, not a pilot induced booboo.

Gama, hire everyone you can that are willing to do what we tell them and sign it off. I can't make sense of that picture if the story is true. Some parts have to have been missing. I've removed/installed landing gear from a plenty of airplanes and for something like that to happen is almost impossible. I'm going to guess that there is more to the story than we are aware of. The airplane would be on jacks until very thorough gear swings would be accomplished. I doubt that's a MX issue.

So what happened then?
Who knows? Not enough people, time or money. What didn't happen was taxiing. If I were to guess it's a bad turnover between shifts working on the airplane and someone put it on the ground without the trunnion bolts. I apologize, I'd agree this is more than likely MX induced. It's still on the jacks in the picture.

Buddy who sells for WU isn't too happy about the Costco advertisement, but not surprised how many they're are selling because of it.

The Xs are online now for members, although as far as I know they can't exclusively book a X, rather they get "upgraded" from an excel to a X.

A lot of companies purchase a membership for supplemental lift in case of an AOG problem, and dropping a "100K" for guaranteed availability is nothing/tax deductible. I'll hand it to them, they are branded better than anyone else, even more so than NetJets in my opinion.

I'm not up on Charter rates, but that seems expensive....

It is extremely high. Or at least it used to be. Times are changing rapidly if you follow charter rates. High staff turnover on top of increased salaries for the people left are driving up costs.

Right now though, $5k an hour can get a person the Challenger 601 that I fly. Yet I still see Wheels Up doing a lot of flights in and out of our home base.

The "advantage" to Wheel Sup is they only charge for occupied hours, no charges for dead heads.

They charge somewhere between $4500 and $5000 an hour for a King Air. They can advertise it however they want, but trust me, they’re charging for the empty legs.
