I've posted my upcoming 5 day 'trip' that's starts tomorrow AM. Does anyone notice what is completely messed up with this?

CAL introduce EWR-EWR nonstops?

yeah, what doug said, but also how is your show time 0600 if the flight is 0600.

that's if I am even reading it correctly.

same thing for the 23rd and 24th

Sorry...guess I should decodify w/ my nifty JC decoder ring.......:p

RHT = Hot Reserve = sit at the airport and do nothing but wait for the phone to ring.

I'll give everyone a hint:

The problem lies with my show/ finish times. Also, this is yet another fine example of why we needed ALPA on property eons ago. :(

That's hot reserve on those days. 8 hours worth.

I like how the first day starts at 6am, and it's all mornings until the end when you finish at 10pm...but don't worry because EWR is the commuter base. :banghead:

Other than that...I dunno.

I'm sure they need you to report 1 hour 15 minutes prior to departure because there are a lot of lines to be plotted, track NOTAMs to be checked, and a host of another complex procedures to get from EWR to RDU and from PIT to EWR.

My fellow Colganite has spoiled the fun. Yes, every day is an EARLY AM show...then convieniently my last day is an afternoon show w/ a finish time of 2200. Makes the trip completely UNcommutable. Thanks for the hose-job Colgan!

Yet again, just making my job on the OC that much easier!

This is also another source of contention....although not the one I was specifically pointing out. That is only a first flight of the day thing. Normally, shows are one hour.

That's especially fun on the first flight of the day when the gate agents don't show up to let you down to the plane until 45 minutes prior to departure. At least it gives us plenty of time to get McDonald's.

Oh, damn...I thought you were going to say that I'M not working two days of the pairing with you since I'm in ALB in recurrent. THAT'S what 's REALLY wrong with it! :p :D

P.S. - try to have fun anyway!

Cruise! But you're loggin TURBINE! OMG! OMG! OMG! Ingrate! :) :sarcasm:

that rht stuff is fun isnt it. at least in alb they have wireless and i have caught up on a lot of movies. it is also nice that they have a working heater.

You've already answered it, but for one its not even a trip, which sucks. Its 5 days of work, with a 2 day trip in the middle. Two, they manage to give you 24 hours off prior to the start of the last day, so they could figure out how to work you 7 straight calendar days. Yea, thats a really crap schedule. At least its isnt 12 hours of hot reserve.

What time does the last Q leave EWR? Is there going to be a Captain and 2 FAs with you? This is what I dont understand about colgan, not having a full crew sit hot reserve is absolutly useless. Thats when I just got home and play a nice game of risk. They will also have you sit at IAD until 10pm, when the Saabs start leaving around 9, and are all gone by 10pm. If the really needed 1 FO, by 8pm, you would hope they would know.

come on rob, you of all people should know why they keep us beyond the time of the last plane leaving. my roommate has reserve until 11pm. last plane out/in is 9 or 915 i dont understand the reasoning. then again it is well above my payscale so i dont question.

Well if they have a full crew, then I can see why. Dispatch could get some crazy idea to pull a plane out of the hangar and use it. But just an FO!??! I cant fly the plane by myself!

Are you in the same pad as Doug??

nope. moving in with t.a. met doug last night seemed like a real good guy. small world he is buddies with guys i went to college with. small small world.

Ha!

Oh, this is what you were getting at?!

I didn't even notice because I got so used to it!

You will have very, very few commutable trips out of Newark airport. :(

The banks of flights are such that almost every outstation that is within 2 hours flying has a departure around 6-7AM. Additionally, there is a bank of flights that comes in from these same cities around 9-11PM.

Unless ExpressJet/Colgan/Commutair want to have crews layover at EWR, it results in pairings that often start at 5AM and finish after 9PM.

It will not change until the banks of flights change and I don't see that happening at EWR sicne there is so much O & D traffic.

I've been activated many times sans crew...

often to drive somewhere fun to get something... like ewr-alb for the morning

thats not colgan, thats just the way newark is. being massively O&D traffic and in a huge metro area there huge AM departure banks and PM arrivals and that means your trips start early and finish late. Check out an XJT EWR bid packet and see the mass quantity of trips that start at 0500 and finish at 2300.

I was with nick on guessing the brief times being too long. no EWR based XJT or CAL pilot would have blinked twice at the 0600 start and 2200 finish as being abnormal. :)

welcome to newark.
