Wow I wasn't even thinking someone actually hated me that bad to beat me up in a alley! If somebody actually wants to harm another human being because they took a job as an FO on a beech 1900 then I'd say they are pretty pathetic. That's behaving more like an animal rather then a professional airline pilot.
We do not see eye to eye on this. I’m not about to hijack this thread and get into PFT consequences. The jet charter company I was with simply wanted NO part of people who subscribe to the idea that it’s ok to pay for a job when your credentials otherwise would leave you in the back of the line. That was our prerogative; we enjoyed giving breaks to hard workers not hard spenders.
I'm pretty new to the 121 world, but I've noticed a lot of hatred amongst pilots. I don't really get it. .
How soon you forget that many regional airlines (like Comair and ExpressJet, or when it was Continental Express), were PFT airlines.
Based on your shady selection procedure, I'd hate to work at your place.
Remember guys, being a professional pilot has little to do with who you work for, what you fly and how much you make. Rather, being a professional pilot is all about who you are, what you stand for and how you represent your craft.
Like its really affecting you..get over yourself. If you work for a non-Union carrier that undercuts our contracts, you've got to understand GOING IN that there is a certain level of animosity towards you. You have caused guys to lose pay and benefits. For some that means houses lost and divorce.
So, if you work for Gojets, jetBlue, Skybus or Virgin, you can expect to be ignored AT BEST.
And if you really want to see hatred, cross a picket line and become a scab. That cross you will bear the rest of your life regardless of where you work.
DE,
You might be surprised how much animosity there is out there towards jetBlue, Gojets, Skybus and Virgin pilots. Meet me sometime at the Liberty Lake or Sullivan Starbucks. I'll buy you a cup of coffee and explain it to you.
PM me a time and date.
If all they did was ignore you, thank your lucky stars. There are plenty of guys out there who would like to have a personal "discussion" with you in an alley somewhere.
It doesn't say a lot TO YOU about the selection procedure, but to me it screams that they know what they're doing.
But then again, you've never been involved in interviewing somebody at an airline have you?
"I don't agree with buying directly the right seat"
How does JetU, which you said earlier guarantees you a job (unless is was a typo), not directly buying the right seat?
It's the same thing. Just a little different.
"What they are doing" is letting their bias show because someone went to Gulfstream Academy, and then *discredting* their experience at a Part 121 airline.
No, I haven't been involved with interviewing at an airline.
Like DE said, even scabs have found jobs at UPS. I worked at Evergreen, and there were plenty of Eastern scabs there.
If I was interviewing someone at the airline, when it comes to looking at their resume, I would look at their experience and qualifications. To shred the resume because a guy went to Gulfstream Academy, is childish at best.
Gulfstreamers end up getting jobs at majors (Continental, Airtran etc). So, I know it is your airline selection procedure that is messed up for your biases.
