What's the deal with anti-Leather jackets?

Ok guys..

What is soo horrible about the leather jacket?

Ya got me, man. I haven't had a CA give me crap about it (okay, not one I've FLOWN with at least). It's a lot more convenient than the blazer, IMO. Don't have to worry about wrinkles, and three pulls later, you can take it out on the overnight without looking like a tool or a flasher.

I haven't gotten flak from anyone..

The only anti-leather sentiments I've seen are on the forums..

Just curious as to what the deal is..

I'm not anal about the hats, I just don't like 'em and won't wear them if it's not mandatory..

Well yeh, that sounds about right.. :)

The hat and the leather jacket just don't mix.. :)

The leather jacket just does not gel in my opinion with the rest of the pilot uniform! If your uniform consisted of a denim pants, then maybe, but with slacks, nope, doesn't work.

I guess it's a good thing you and I are both not in charge of picking out what everyone wears.. :D

Oh god, tell me about it! Which ever airlines I end up working for, I would suggest uniform redesign inputs from Kenneth Cole or Ralph Lauren. I think those guys can come up with something classy, modern, and sexy for the pilot workforce :D

Yeh, I bet they could even work in a nice looking leather jacket.. ;)

Welp, I gotta head to the airport.. about to slip on my Perrone.. :)

I think the SWA guys I've seen in leather jackets and a hat looked fine - I don't get what the big deal is. I think a short sleeve shirt with a tie is much worse.

If you don't wear a lether jacket with sewn-in epaulets, a hat, aviator sunglasses, an american flag tie, moustache, and have a Batman-syle utility belt of little gadgets and electronic devices strapped to your hips, and use CEO's first names like you two are old fishing buddies, then you're a complete toolbag IMO.

Bonus points for wearing your sunglasses in the terminal while talking on the cell phone, or, of not wearing them, then hanging them off your epaulets. Yeah. That's kickass.

Oh! I almost forgot... backpack, Ipod in ears, and spiky hair. That is the look we should all aspire to as professional aviators.

Again, totally kickass.

We have the choice to wear the "uniform" leather jacket, but it seems to me that the hat is still a must wear- no matter if its blazer vs. leather going with it.

As far as the "tool bags" go..... i reserve that opinion for the way a individual person acts, even though if they "should" have the hat on in combo with the leather jacket- per the company policy.
