So ill be going to the Phillippines for a vacation in August, its a 15 hour flight with a stop at Guam....on an A-340. ANy ideas besides sleep on what you would do to draw your attention from the realley long flight?

I've done quite a few of those flights. The key is to stay drunk, or find a really cute chick to flirt with and annoy for the entire time.

What part of The Philipines are you going to?

When i am on my way home from Iraq....that flight will feel like 30 hours, i have a 30g ipod which will help and ALOT of cheezy inflight movies. If we stop in Shannon then quickly demolish a 6 pack from the duty free to aid in the sleep process. Other then that though i find if almost impossible to sleep on an airplane.

My typical flight includes
read every single article in every magazine that you brought
Listen to music on Ipod
Watch every cheesy movie they offer
Watch whatever you have on your laptop until the battery dies (ten minutes before the movie ends)
Go back to your magazines and concentrate on the pictures and the captions this time
Now it is time to resort to skymall, look at every single item on every single page (free inflight phone calls to skymall)
Now onto the airlines magazine..read all of those articles and then finish the parts of the crossword that the previous reader couldnt do
Does it serve food? Wait in anticipation for your meal..eat it...wait and ask them for another one. Why? because two is better then one.
Are you in the military? Chances are you will drink for free with a cool FA serving.
That will usually do it for me, pretty much the most amazing hours of my life.

Manila/ Luzon Island, a lot of my relatives, friends, family friends are from there. Im also headed down to Buracay, apparently good tourist spot and white sandy beaches.

errr....I have an I-river 40gb but its not taking in any new songs I hook it up with....so itll be 15 hours long worth of old songs....ha

Watch the entertainment, and then sleep. You won't have the benefit of partaking in the liquor selection like I did when I went to Singapore on ANA. Sake is a great way to fall asleep, let me tell you.

That is so true...when i say EVERY WORD...i even read the ads, like the stupid ones about the medication that helps your eyesight and everything, and all of the classifieds in the back.

Have fun with a couple of flight attendants in the lavatory.

A friend recently vacationed in Prague, flew from DFW. He swears by taking an Ambien, but warned that the hangover in Heathrow made life interesting. I'm thinking half an Ambien might not be a bad idea.

Also, and you might think this is weird, but bring a portable chess board, if you like to play. I have never, ever had a problem finding another passenger to play with on the plane or even in the bar on a layover.

Reading the warnings/side effects of things published is always funny.

You think that's bad? Just last week I spent thirteen hours in a Piper Arrow with no stops except three short fuel stops. I was even flying for about 8 of those hours. No IFE, no beverage service unless you bring your own (and only non-alcoholic of course), and no room to stand up. That was exciting let me tell you.
