What to do in a 15 hour flight?

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to my 20+ hour (with layovers) flight from Okinawa - Philadelphia soon. Not only the hours, but im also dragging a wife and 7 month old kid, I also have a broken ankle, WOOH! I'm stocking up on sleeping pills, vikaden, my MP3 player, and PSP, that *should* hold me over for most of the trip from Osaka - Chicago.

Anyone know if UA gives free booze on international flights? I know China Air does...

I think you gotta pay for it if your sitting in back....most airlines charge $5 a pop! whew...

Chris, get some sleep medication at your local DRUG store or Walmart, Target, etc... I got some sleeping tablets for insomnia and they put me to sleep soooooo deep in the long flight to Japan. On my way back I slept almost nine hours, and experienced no jet lag since I slept for most of the flight, I'm not kidding.

I just thought of another one...you dont want to drink because if the Captain, FO, Engineer and SO (if the plane has them) all have heart attacks

and....

There are no jumpseaters or pilots on board....

Then they will need you to fly the plane. I cant think of a better way to kill the time.

Don't forget the backup crew all had the fish...

FA: Uhm, does any one know how to fly a Boeing 777, or have any flight experience?
Passengers: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Me: Well, I got 54 hours in a cessna 172, how hard could it be?

P.S. Beer in the CamelBAK has got to be one of the greatest ideas i've ever heard, I got three of them, and I know whats going in'em now :)

hahaha, what I find funny though is how some people think that flying a bigger jet would be extremely hard/impossible. The systems in those airplanes are soooooooooooooo complex and there's sooooo much to know about them, and by no means am I saying that I could ever understand those airplanes w/ my knowledge now, but it's still a plane, you know? and they kinda fly similar to most other planes too...I'd think. I don't think if we forget to press a button or something, the plane is gonna go down in flames, lol. I'm pretty sure one of us GA pilots could land a jet. Maybe damage it, yes...but still be able to fly it 234520439582093489 better than any other non-pilot could ever do.
I don't want to sound cocky at all (and please don't see it that way as I'm probably the most humble person you'll ever meet)...but United let us fly their 757 sims when we visited them and I did a couple of landings in the full motion sim and greased it in both occasions. The United captain that was w/ us in the sim was surprised to see it, but in all honesty, I didn't feel like the sim felt much different than regular good'ol flying. I was a private pilot only back then...
...and yes, I know that sims are not the real deal, and that the environment you'd find yourself in should it be a real emergency wouldn't help it either, but I think most of us here could safely land a big jet without bursting the jet into flames on landing...

I think you are seriously underestimating the difference between a 152 and a 757, but agreed, a pilot would have more of a chance than a non-pilot, but they'd still ball it up at the end of the runway.
