What must be in your flightbag?

The stuff the company makes me carry, plus an overnight bag (It's just an out and back, I swear!)

Extra glasses.
That's a good one too. I wear contacts, but started carrying a pair of glasses in my flight bag after I nearly lost a contact during a flight. That would have sucked.

Everytime I am over that swamp I am doing a mental calculation--"can I glide to Aligator Alley"--its the times where I am going "nope, nope, nope, nope" where I am thinking, "losing power would REALLY suck"

Beasly don't like gators.

Beasly in the swamp, at night, without his glasses and no flashlight saying, "what was that splash?" would REALLY suck. No thanks.

Glasses, lights, guns. (mental note--add extra bullets to flight bag)

I wish I could include a Leatherman or any other multi-tool, but due to the infinite wisdom of the TSA this is deemed way to dangerous for a Part 121 airline crew to bring along. Ha!

i know!! I could be an ffdo with a gun, but no multi tool! Ridiculous.

Extra glasses. Extra batteries, Extra "light" (I have magnifying glasses with a lite in them), extra watch. Charts, AFD, E6B (nostalgia).

Basically stuff where I can still see , navigate and survive should the aircraft fail.

get a .44 revolver....laced with magnums..... You wanna make sure you stop whatever large animal you are shooting at.

I have a serious question. I have a conceal and carry permitt. Can I carry a gun when I fly my airplane? Its not addressed in the rules for the conceal and carry law.

You absolutely can, unless you state prohibits it for some other reason. In FL, you can carry at an airport, just not the secured area of it.

But the crash axe is just fine to have with you in the cockpit, so far as the TSA is concerned. :D

Shh! All we need are the "Paul Blart's" digging around cockpits when they're put to bed for the night.

In Flight Bag (standard briefcase size):
1. Company (Op Spec/GOM) - one book thank god
2. ERG 2008 - required by company
3. Scale - required by company
4. Flashlight - 2 cell
5. Charts - required for my run
6. Lunch
7. Labtop
8. Chargers (phone, bluetooth, ipod)

Seriously? Where do you get it?

They make it again, along with Blackjack and one other type of classic style gum. They make a batch of one type every year apparently so you can only get Beeman's every third year.

A pack of Blackjack is always in my flight kit, I love that junk. I stock up and freeze a few 20 pack cartons when I find it. The candy store in the mall carries it but I also saw it in some store called World Foods (I think) on the mainland.

You'd be amazed what the MTC folks at LGA leave behind...

I draw the line at a half-eaten Subway, though.

I HAVE standards!

Just keep the TSA off the pitot tubes, that's all I ask.

Roger: you're OBLIGATED to carry glasses if you wear contacts, as I understand it. I've been ramped and asked for them.

Also: NASA forms! Item #1 for any good freight dog.
