What luggage do you use?

Just picked up the Costco 22" bag. Smooth wheels, nicely working handle. We'll see how it works out. About $100.00, and if anything goes wrong, even after wear and tear, no questions asked, they'll tell you to go pick out a new one. Or they'll give you your money back.

I have 22" hand-me-down Travelpro. All but two zipper pulls are gone and one of the main compartment actual zippers is completely gone. To be fair, though, A) I commute B) the aircraft I've been flying pretty much requires that you put your bags in the back. Both of these things are murder on ANY bag.

I'm eyeing a PNT. But first I gotta get a flight case and new binders.

Unfortunately, I don't work for a company that provides FREE things.

I suppose I should go shoot myself in the face, now.

FTW!!1!1

Is a 24 or 25 inch is too big for crew use?

In the CRJ, length isn't really the issue. You're gonna have to put it in the bin long ways anyway. After packing for a 4 day trip, I had to jam my Costco bag in with a shoe horn. With the PNT bag, it slides right in the bin without a problem.

When (not if) you're DHing, on the CA's side of the DC-9, even the shorter 22" bags won't go in handle facing out. It will on the FO side, though. So, with mine I have to put it in longways anyway (since I got the taller bag), but I haven't had a problem yet. If you're DHing in the back of a CRJ, you're gonna have to gate check it no matter if it's an 18" or a 25" bag.

Now, as far as getting stuff for free at the bottom feeder level, yeah we have to pay for that stuff. But wasn't BrandX the same guy that said it was useless trying to make things better? I'm not seeing his point other than he's just trying to show how "superior" he is. Whatever helps ya sleep at night, man.

Thank you for all your info and advice. Yourself and a few other Pinnacle guys on here have been alot of help to me in making the 121 transition, and I very much appreciate everyone's advice. If anyone else has any words of wisdom for a guy getting started in the 121 world, feel free. I'm all ears.

When's your class date? We'll have to meet up while you're in town and I'll impart a few more nuggets of wisdom on how to survive your first year at PCL with your sanity intact. :)

I use the TPro. Had it for over two years. I think the axle is failing, but other than that, it's been fine. And I threw it in the back of the Brasilia for a year. I've heard really good things about StrongBags.com. Similar design and as sturdy as the PNT, but half the weight. That's what I've heard, anyway.

And I'll say it though it's been said before. No matter how much you argue, you will not convince me that returning an airline used Costco bag every two years for a free new one is not stealing. It is, plain and simple.

I use the FREE (every two years) POS travelpro that my company gives me. In it, I put my FREE uniform (every year) and I attach my FREE flight bag (every five years) to it.

Hey DE727UPS.....Can you tell me if Brand X is representative of the types of people at UPS. He hasn't posted a single worthwhile thing so far here at JC and certainly makes UPS look bad.

I don't care how much money you make.....his attitude is horrendous and the sooner people like that are out of the industry, the better.

Any opinions from you regarding the UPS pilot group????

I certainly don't feel bad about it. If it causes me to buy a $50 dollar costco membership every time I return it, they probably still make money. Not to mention the other stuff I might by there since I went to the trouble of getting a membership just for that bag. I don't make a habit of looking a gift horse in the mouth.

If the bag breaks after two years, and the company stands behind its product enough to offer replacement if it does break, how is this stealing...?

We bought the Costco bag partly because of the guarantee, but we will not return it if it is not broken. If it does break, then we will certainly take advantage of the guarantee.

Maybe I'm not a UPS pilot. Maybe I'm just a poser. I might be a flightsim ace that knows more about flying than YOU do. I do read airliners.net, so I am informed about aviation and the airlines.

Re: Credibility

i'm not quite understanding this....and....so, what's your point?

Exactly??? Look Brand X.....there are a ton of good people here on JC. We try to help each other out. I'm kinda confused why you feel the need to continually post negatively or condescendingly. You 'supposedly' are in an excellent position within the industry. A great spot to affect change for your fellow professional pilots...either by helping them to climb the ladder via an internal referral or assisting by sharing your years of wisdom.

But you don't! Ever! Instead, you come here and try to make others look stupid or make them feel bad. So please forgive me if I don't fully understand your motives for being here. The best I can figure at this point is that no one likes you and you come here to take out your revenge on others. Prove me wrong....do something nice today!

Re: Credibility

:yup: The kids a troll, flamebait, whatever you want to call it  He sits behind his computer playing FSX (over the VATSim network so he can wear his headset), and reads A.net enough to think he has a better grasp on the industry than those of us who work in it... oh well I guess I should listen to this guy:

Mods: I don't mean fore this to go too far... stop me if it does.
