What kinda airplane would you buy?

I dont' want all that glass in a plane that I own.

Maybe I'm weird but non-commercial single-pilot IFR is nuts, single-pilot single-engine IFR is even crazier. So what's the point of the glass?

I can play with a Nav display at work.

Que freight dawg in.....5...4...3...2...

:)

remember, I said "non-commercial". Private pilots generally don't have a MX department, dispatchers or a real reason to be out the WX shiznit flying around beyond pleasure flying.

Ya, somthing basic not too fancy. Maybe like a C-185 or maybe a T206U. But thats if i had the bucks to feed it.

How about a nice T-34B?

More or less a two-place Bonanza and when you really want to cut it up, fully aerobatic!

Hey Merit, not sure what kinda coin you have to spend but for a mere $573k you could get a brand new Piper Saratoga II TC!!!

If I had the cash it'd be the plane that I'd most want to get!

You won't hear any arguments from me on that one. I have always relied on the old sying when it comes to getting some where in GA airplane; "Time to spare? Go by air"

That's one reason I like our Stinson. No DG or any thing that resembles IFR flying. Nothing to even tempt you. It's my fair weather friend.

When I lived in MCO, the company my wife (girlfriend, of course, at the time, worked at a firm that needed some aerial photography done. I said, "well, I can go whenever you want to go, but if it's going to require an instrument approach, I get my going rate at Delta". He never called though. That's alright!

It's hard to find a picture online, but a...

2007 Baron G58-

G1000 with XMwx
4 Bladed Props
De-Icing boots
Winglets

Overall- a mere 2.3 million.

G1000 on a piston is like a trunk wing and a big tailpipe on a Honda.

Gotta disagree bro. I think its incredible that they've moved that kind of technology into GA planes.

I have absolutely no problem flying single pilot IFR with the G1000 in a single engine. Its done every day and safely.

Now, single pilot IFR in a new Seminole without an AP? No thanks.

And for those who voted a light twin -

Cost of an overhaul on a piston Lycoming? Around $20,0000 per engine.

Cost of an overhaul on your prop? Around $4,000 per engine.

Thanks for considering the mx cost. :)

If you're doing IFR at night in mountainous terrain, you need a twin or SE turbine.

Consider getting a Bonanza and upgrading it. I really like the the 210 Silver Eagle. Costs under a million and has a nice purring Allison leading the way.

Haha...why'd you put it as an option if you don't like the option?

Where the hell are you getting your work done? Those prices are about double the actual cost. Sounds like you are going to those places that you take your Cherokee 180 to get an annual and $30,000 later you get to fly it again.
