what is atp real price

How did he have a tough job working a few hours a day for two weeks, give me a break, he was a lazy piece of crap that didn't do anything. We were expected to know all the material before we went to the class. Yah I got signed off the first time around but alot of other people got screwed because Frank was a lousy piece of crap. He kicked one guy out of the class for helping one of the other students, I take offense to that. Are you dilutional, you respect a worthless piece of crap, that says alot about you. Frank is the most unprofessional person I have ever met in aviation. <edited>

Do you consider any of your posts in this thread professional?

Am I at my job! NO! I am on an online forum. And nothing I have said is untrue!

Professionalism stretches beyond the office. When giving advice and calling into question someones professionalism it is best not to sink to their level or below.

You are not on just an airline forum, you are on a networking site. How people perceive you matters.

I started the ATP program May last year at the Houston location, full 150 day fast track, went to CFI school at the Vegas location and was hired on as a CFI in Oct. I can tell you right now that our experiences of ATP couldn't be more polar opposite!

First off, all the instructors at the DWH location busted their asses in every way possible at all times to help their students. The DPE's at Houston are not being paid under the table or in ATP's back pocket to pass any student, and are held to the same standards listed by the PTS as any other flight school would have. Nothing is handed to you in the training, and as a student you are expected to pull your end so that you can make the deadline of a fast track style training. Which isn't for everyone, maybe yourself included.

Second, I went to the Vegas location for CFI. Oh, which when I called ATP and requested Vegas over Jax they gave me the green light. Funny, I'm a paying customer and got to choose my location!! The entire crew at Vegas was the utmost professional group of trainers again. Mike, the CFI instructor there was working 15 hour days minimum to both teach and fly with us. He was extremely patient and easy going, and busted his ass to help us get through a tough 14 day course. I've heard a lot of bad things about Dan, the manager, but IMO they aren't true. Dan actually took the time to do mock orals with me, simply because I was nervous about the oral exam. And the reason I was nervous is because my DPE had a bunch of negative reviews, which couldn't have been further than the truth.

Third, ATP is hiring as many instructors as they can! There were 12 in my stands class, 14 two weeks later and have a new class of around 12-15 instructors every couple weeks. Everyone that I know that has completed the course, regardless of a few bad reviews has been hired. There are two new Stands instructors, both of which are a professional, and a joy to fly with. My eval rides were with the chief pilot at CRG and John A., and I can easily say those two rides were one of the best learning experiences I had to date!

Now I'm an instructor in Nashville. Our planes are superbly maintained, have a great group of both students and instructors, an FBO that loves us and a great place to fly and build hours. I honestly can't complain about the pay, its inline with most flight schools, and its based on how much you fly. Oh and a nice little $100 Christmas bonus was a nice treat.

I have a full line of personal ideas and attacks I could line up, but I'm gonna leave that alone. But your denial, rationalization and projection are at full tilt! (Check the FOI for definitions!)

MQY? Great place. Smyrna Air Center is awesome. I have probably seen you before but didn't stop to say hi (not in a hurry, well, actually, yes, had stuff to do).

I went to ATP PHX 10'/11. The CP there was a standup guy....I felt he was fair and worked with me when I had my struggles there. I paid what was advertised at the time and not a penny more. Check rides were an additional cost. As far as instructors, there were a couple I didn't care for but there were some instructors who worked hard to make sure you were ready for your check ride. The program works if you are willing to put in the hard work an effort..lot's of self study. Looking back, I only wish I had prepared more before starting the program...would have made things a lot easier...and getting all the written exams out of the way.

Dumb sidebar question:

I've heard, universally, that one should have all the writtens done before training. I was under the impression - perhaps mistakenly - that you needed a CFI endorsement to take a written. Is this not the case?

It depends on the written. CFI, CFII, and FOI (and airline transport pilot) are all self-endorsing. I received endorsements for private pilot airplane, instrument airplane and commercial airplane written exams.

I am not a CFI nor do I have 14 CFR in front of me, but that's how it went for me.

Well...this is my point...

I did my PPL through a flying club at TKI when I lived in Dallas. My instructor had to give me an endorsement to take the written.

Hypothetically, let's say I wanted to do a career pilot program at ATP - which, for me, would mean the IR, Commercial, and CFI stuff with the multi-add ons. For the IR and Commercial writtens, if I hadn't had any instruction yet, how would I be able to take the writtens prior to attending ATPs program? I've never understood this.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I did a home study program, (Gliem) and had my PPL CFI check my home study. He felt that I was prepared for the IR and the Comm knowledge exams. Therefore he gave me the endorsements for both. I then self-endorsed the FIA, FII, and FOI. I also self-endorsed for the AGI and IGI exams.
This was about 12 months ago but after completing CFI initial about 30 days ago and covering endorsements, it remains the same.

We've been transitioning to using iPads whenever possible at ATP - this includes the test prep. Students get access to ASA prep software once they're enrolled. This allows you to study and take tons of practice tests. If you can consistently score in the mid to upper 80s on practice tests and take a screen grab from 3 or so in a row, most CFIs will sign you off for a written. That's how I've done it with my students. We've also just launched a new series of online-interactive ground school that makes self study a lot more efficient.

As far as taking the test, once you've signed up for a start date, Admin will let you come in to any of our offices to take your writtens.

Let me know if you've got more questions on the program and I'll be happy to answer 'em.
