What HAVE you flown? (Inspired by the Bucket List Thread)

Re: What HAVE you flown? (Inspired by the Bucket List Thread

This thread reminds me of Orange Anchor :(
Blue skies and tailwinds.

AMG: Not to derail the thread, but one imagines that there are huge differences between the garden variety F/A-18 and the "SuperBug" (Did I get that right?) Is it mostly avionics and mission-capability stuff, or does it "fly differently" as well?

I really couldn't tell you how they compare flying qualities wise, as I really only trunked a few SH rides and got about 10 mins of stick time on all of them. The guys I know who have flown real time in both have all said that they are really almost the same. I do know that the Super doesn't have an AoA tone at lift limit, so I can imagine that might get annoying doing BFM and having to visually crosscheck that, but honestly I don't know. I hear our jets are a little bit more nimble, and have better acceleration and top end than the Supers, but that would certainly be stores loading dependent. Like you said, their big advantage is the guts. AESA radar, nice big displays, updated software, and from what I can gather talking to my SH friends, they fixed most of the annoying systems/airframe issues that the legendary Hornet had which we have learned to work around. Their radar is out of control from what I have heard. Ask me again in a few years, once I have transitioned :)

F-100 Super Sabre
F-15C Eagle (walked around one on the VAL line the other day, and it was like sex on wheels)
F-16 Viper
F-4 Phantom (or Rhino for Mike)

With the Collings Foundation, you can fly that F-100 or F-4 and you will most likely to get to fight the rest!!!

Yeah and I forgot to mention the -105, which last I heard, they were at least trying to acquire. That must be an awesome job

Re: What HAVE you flown? (Inspired by the Bucket List Thread

The only a/c I can admit to having flown are Wings' two Warriors and my dad's Archer.

:)

Yeah but how many times have you gotten to pop up in the cockpit and hit some "turbulence?"

Re: What HAVE you flown? (Inspired by the Bucket List Thread

Every year there is an event call air venture - it is basically an annual gathering of all the airplanes I have flown.

This is a slight exaggeration :)
