Being a webmaster, I hear almost on a daily basis how I'm 'censoring' people. Actually, this is a fairly loose aviation website and I generally trust the judgement of most of my users on when to start wrapping topics up and other activity that is inconsistent with the website.
But if you think you're being censored, you're not. You're being 'moderated'. And if you have to continuously be moderated and I've got the gut feeling (developed thru about six years of running a forum) that you're trouble, there is no debate, you're gone. The website functioned greatly before newly registered troublemakers show up, it'll function greatly after newly registered troublemakers are gone.
The whole thing really happens in cycles. There's about a particular coefficient of sorts where I can almost predict when things happen, especially when the new registrations start popping up and they're from the same domain. I dunno, some people think I'm stupid, but that's fine because it's nothing new. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt and I'm sure I'll spend every X-number of days repeating moderation/deletion/suspension of registrations until someone shuts the lights off at Jetcareers.
I think it's a good website because I, and my moderators, have lost our fear of saying "Hey, and don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out" to troublesome users.
