What Airlines would you want to work for?

Already at XJT

Next? In no particular order...
Fedex
UPS
CAL
Cathay
or anyone else that looks healthy when the time comes...these things are cyclical. Honestly flying boxes would be my firsy choice.

IF I had the choice:

Cathay Pacific
Southwest
Alaska
Northwest

- the top two because of job security. Cathay and Southwest have never had lay-offs or paycuts.

I wouldn't base your decision on past history in hopes that they are somehow above furloughing in the future because that is surely not the case. I would select the company based on how they look in today's market going forward. Which company fits your lifestyle (i.e. bases), etc.

Of course whoever hires me, but since this is make believe:

CFI to Ameriflight to Skywest or Horizon Air to Alaska Airlines

I love the people at Horizon and Alaska and would love to be a part of the company. Skywest is great too, and I might be able to be in my hometown of San Diego in this make believe perfect world.

That said, I would also like FedEx. I know less about UPS as far as a place to work.

Surprised only one mentions a freight carrier! ;-)

I'm not to keen on only fly at night! I like versatility. But I do like the fact that DE727UPS flies out and backs day trips for his line!
As someone said previously yes cargo is more steady but they are harder to get on with as they seem to hire less then majors and seem even pickier.
Which is one of the main reasons I didn't list them. If I were to fly boxes I'd really enjoying flying for UPS.

Any airline that hires me.

Ding Ding! We have a winner! That there is the correct answer. You send your resume out to everyone, and you say 'yes' to whoever hires you!

Honestly, if I had a choice, I'd go to UPS or FedEx over any pax carrier in a heartbeat. Flying boxes is a dream.

Lastly as anyone on this board would tell you.
These might be my choices but I'll fly for the company that hires me that has a good work relation between pilots and management.
And offers the best salary and advancement opportunity and QOL!

Check again....I was the first to say that.Brian just echod my statements!

UP yes sir
FedEx
DHL
Alaska
Horizon

In that order. Hopefully this is what my career ladder will look like.

Well, if we had all answered honestly instead of a "dream list," then just about every response would have been the same: Whoever hires me. That's kinda boring, don'tcha think?

I'm surprised so few people really want to travel with their lives...

my list, in no particular order
Qantas, Alitalia, Air France, British Airways, Singapore, then *maybe* Emirates, then we start to consider US carriers..

Why? Because all the airlines above fly to a variety of destinations, and most of them are seniority based pay scales, with no variance in type of a/c (like in US Airlines)... Additionally, do you really want to fly to Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh and

TEXAS for 5 years of your life? I certainly wouldn't

Well for me at least at this point in my life the idea of being in a plane 8-10 hours in a cramped cockpit drives me nuts.
There is a daily Speedbird flt. that leaves PHX-LHR dear god I'd want to beat my head in with a hammer being in a plane that long.
Cruise flight from a pilots perspective isn't all that interesting from what I have heard.
When I was in college I was going nuts on the holidays when I flew ATL-PHX. and that was only 4+ hours.
I have always wanted to fly medium range planes 757,767,737-800/900,MD-88/90 and 777 intercontinental would be awesome.
Now I'm sure that as I age in this career the domestic side will begin to bore me.
In the distant future I might want to switch up the monotony I might bid international.
Until then it's domestic for me.

If we actually could get on with the airline of our choice (HAHA yeah right!):

Regionals (1st to last):
CHQ
XJT
Skywest
Pinnacle
Comair
ASA
Mesa
Gulfstream (just kidding!)

Majors (1st to last):
Northwest
Southwest
Delta
Continental
Air Tran
Hawaiian

Our domestic meals are better than most pax flight meals. International, we have a menu and the food is way better and in more quantity than you get on most pax flights.

Yep that was the first thing that popped in to my head when I saw the title of this thread.

Still, its good to wish.

One aircraft I'd really like to fly some day is the MD-11. So FedEx and UPS are one of my choices. Has anyone here jumpseated in one?

Growing up Ive always wanted to be a DL pilot...a lot of them are family friends etc and I always thought that was the ultimate job..boy how things change! Ive also always loved SWA. If I were in the position right now I would go for them or FedEx/UPS just for the sake of job security..the dream of flying pax is neat..but after that fades away I would want a solid job and security and cargo is definitely offering that right now.
