What aircraft would you want to fly?

Speaking of them, I saw one of them pass by SFO flying VFR on the Bay Tour today. That must have been a hell of a lot of fun for whoever was flying it.

A 23? Even a 24? Jesus, I Hope they have their own oil well. But yeah, sign me up! Just realize, a 35 ain't a 23. 35s have those big basically-a-turboprop engines and are for Nancies like Mikecweb. 23s hold approximately a gerbil cage in the back and go like stink whilst bankrupting middle-eastern nations.

I've also always liked the Hawker Tempest. Maybe even more than the FW190.

Typhoon with a slightly less crappy engine? Boo. WAY too much wing for the job, as the Brits were wont to do. It's pretty, sure, but with that much HP, it should have been breaking high alt records. As it stood, while it had a great low alt performance, it got passed by clapped out three year old 51s with much poorer "paper performance" when at altitude. And the Typhoon/Tempest even failed at low alt to be the FW killer it was supposed to be. It was quite a bit faster, yes, but while its instantaenous AND sustained turns were much better than the 190, its roll sucked. Couple of rapid rolls, a dive away, and Mr. Wulf was a dot on the canopy while Flight Leftentant Windsor was wildly clawing at the sky to point in the right damn direction. There's a reason that the tempest racers you see have their wings WILDLY clipped. Typhoon/Tempest is as much a testament to what can be done WRONG with the RIGHT equipment as the FW190 is a testament to what can be done RIGHT with the WRONG equipment. Hell, the 190s engine was supposed to be hung on a bomber.

It may be based here as I see a white Lear 23 or 24 in the area pretty often. I think its probably a 24 actually. Never seen a jet going VFR on the Bay Tour before though...well, only in wet dreams.

We would ask pax if they wanted transportation or an airplane ride. It was a fun machine to fly and much that has been said (derogatory) about it is like the babble about the A320.

Low altitude performance is where it's at when chasing V-1's my friend. What cooler mission than chasing the first cruise missles down low making lots of noise?

Only if you go break some ribs first! :D

Chasing after a hot brunette on horseback through the desert? Yeah, I could go for that, too.

Granted, the movie version of the made it appear a good deal more glamorous than it was. IIRC, according to his book, Yeager wasn't doing anything that theatrical when the actual fall took place.

Lets see in no particular order:
TBM Avenger
Dauntless Dive Bomber
P-51
F-105
And one I have not heard yet....A-6 Intruder

My Uncle flew these for 16 years and I'd love to fly one with him

Very Chuck Norris. Boeing builds airplanes; Douglas builds character! Gotta love the -9.

Concorde
M404
P-38
F7F
Super Cub
Embraer Phenom
