Anyone know the cost of westwind SIC school off hand? Before I call some places I want some numbers from someone who has been through it?

Im sure FSI has a Westwind program where you can get a 61.55 or an 8410.

If your going to buy a type why not get a PIC type? SIC is a waste of time.

annnd you only need to go through a recurrent and do a takeoff and landing to get the "sic" type. But actually having an SIC type is only really needed if you are going to Canada and outside.

Can't the company that needs you just go to the FSDO with your 8710 and get the SIC added on? I don't see a need for anyone to pay for a SIC type.

I think for the SIC type you need proof of systems knowledge pertaining to the airplane. Which is what a recurrent does. Do not quote me on that.

A signoff and an 8710 will get you the SIC on your license. However, the insurance company will more than likely require that both pilots be formally trained PIC or SIC.
BTW, the cost difference between the Hawker SIC and PIC types was $5K at Simuflite last June.

Yea the reason I need the training is insurance not FAA. If the difference between the SIC and the PIC is going to be 5k like someone said I am willing to do that to save the company some money. Right now every bit helps. I was just looking for some price ranges before I call because we all know they will quote a lot of different prices and I want to make sure im thinking in the right price range. Probably around 8-10k for an SIC and 10-15 for a PIC?
