VFR 135 gigs

There's Star Marianas our in Tinian and Saipan. I think they're looking for someone now.
There's a couple of VFR operators in Idaho that run things like Islanders and sleds around the ID backcountry for backpacking and float trips in the summer. Mostly out of McCall iirc. I think there's someone that goes over to the channel islands down in SoCal. I'd be willing to be there's many many more. I already mentioned redtail. I got to interact some with them on my last job and it seemed like a top notch operation.

If you do a search on this site, this has all been discussed before and a pretty good list was created.

Nope. Both Vieques Air Link (VAL) and Air Flamenco (which I flew for) are both strictly VFR part 135 operations. They do scheduled pax, as well as cargo and passenger charters. They both hire people with commercial certificates, for the cargo and charter flights. You need an ATP for the scheduled stuff though since its mostly in BN-2 Islanders (VAL has Caravans on the scheduled flights, but its rare to see Commercial pilots fly them although its allowed by regulation).

I remember that they were looking for people with 135 IFR mins..

There's places out of Moab, Bryce Canyon.
King in Las Vegas.

Weather modification is out there too.

My old cargo company in Chandler, we hired 135 VFR guys for 206/207 and PA-32/32R for cargo runs we had that were specifically VFR routes during certain parts of the season. Guy just needed 500 hours, and could build time at a good clip for 135 IFR mins.

I got started at my current job with 600 hours VFR only. There are places out there that will still hire with VFR mins, but you'll have to work for a company that you've never heard of.

Hahaha.

Is there anything but special vfr? Actually today was gorgeous in Kotzebue and Nome.
The weather the last few days in Homer has been spectacular. Though the last few weeks were rainy, cold and very windy. Today we'll hit 70 maybe. Bad for business though. The sedge grass is drying up!

There are two operators with the Airvans over in HI (one out of Kauai), not sure if they hire from the mainland...but worth a try

I would go for tours, rather then cargo. I dunno I enjoyed a lot more flying tours then cargo/charters, I love to interact with people and it was a lot less stressful then having to deal with MVFR while getting the job done. Most charters/cargos I had to do were on average pretty lame (had to fly coffins too,...). I especially loved "safari tours" where I would get to do the same activities and stay in the same lodges/resorts as my passengers. Tourists never cared if you would tell them the weather is just to bad to go, I once got stuck a night on isolated island with 3 Australian chicks lol.

My advice is, call the companies and try to talk to the CP or go there in person and knock at the door.

The CP of the Kauai based company is a buddy of mine, Jordan may be in luck if he's interested. The way my friend was hired was showing up in person and knocking on the doors. He already had moved from the Bay Area and didn't have a job lined up, showing you already have residency is a huge plus. However, many of the guys at these places are lifers and have no interest leaving for the airlines, so openings are rare unless they're expanding. Often jobs aren't posted and are given to people who make a good impression at the bars with the CPs, or so I've heard. The Airvan is a really cool airplane and the flying they do is awesome. It'd be a great gig.

I bet, it`s the kind of place I would be interested flying for, I have done a lot of that kind of flying and lean more towards lifestyle then career. If I ever make it back to the US I will give it a try..I love HI, especially Maui and Kauai.

I got my last two jobs by showing up at the boss` door, one of my interviews was held on a yacht while drinking beers and smoking cigars.

If you ever do, PM me and hopefully I can get you set up for at least a beer at the local pilot pub in LIH with my buddy. He's a great guy I'm sure he'd show you around even if they aren't hiring at the moment.

I think all those companies in Fxe want IFR guys, some hire you with less but you gotta wash planes for a while and do the few non-revenue trips on the right seat with a cfi. Last guy I know hired there had 1200 TT and 800 multi.

Sebastian aero in X26 operates a Seneca to the islands, they fly VFR, buddy got offered a job there with 600tt he decided last moment not to take as he didn t had a cfi in order to teach on the side, they only do about 4 charters a week.
