I certainly would never argue that I don't fly better on a full night of sleep than 4 hrs. That said, this isn't an issue specific to drilling guardsmen/reservists. Fact of life when you are constantly switching between being on the night page, and the day page, and then back, and then back again, and doing everything else in between. I'm normally good going from day to night, but that first day back on the day schedule is always a crusher, as it typically is at the very limits of crew rest requirements. And anyone knows that being "afforded the opportunity for an un-interrupted 8 hrs of sleep" does not equal 8 hrs.....especially when those bastards are doing no load cat shots and dragging chains all over the flight deck right above your head all night....
