US Army tribal aircraft names are racist.....

From what I've seen in native villages, and growing up in a state that had a lot of Indian reservations, Joe Native is worried about a lot of more important things than what Washington calls it's football team. Granted it's probably time to move on, I mean "redskin" was legitimately used derogatorily unlike UND and all the aforementioned aircraft which simply coopted the names of tribes (not sure how that would be offensive, I mean it is literally like me complaining about naming a bush plane the Norseman). But there are much, much bigger fish to fry. I guess I'm just tired of hearing about all of these things I'm supposed to be upset about and all these reasons were spiraling towards a breakdown of civilization.
 
PC was alive and well as far back as 1961 when President Kennedy made VAH-5 change their logo from their beloved "mush mouth" savage African to an Indian Chief's head to avoid potentially offending a visiting African dignitary.

Yes, ignorance is bliss. At least for a while. So be happy. Just don't be a helo driver...or a member of a long lasting civilization. Both are fragile and take eternal vigilance.

Same with one of Williams AFB's T-37 flights in the 3525th Pilot Training Squadron, back in the day. This one changed in the mid 1970s. It was a play on how hot and sweaty Arizona summer flying got, and how one ended up after a flight in said conditions. But, it was changed.

Yeah, I figured as much. I am likewise. Generally speaking, only an unaffiliated type would go to the trouble of sussing out a organization's lineage. Too icky when a member. Like looking into a mirror upon waking hung over.

As a redhead, if anyone called a football team the "Gingers" or "Redheads" I'd totally cheer for that team, despite the occasional negative connotations. Just because it offends some doesn't mean that another can't wear it as a badge of honor.

Of course, with a name like that I could totally see Banana Boat or Coppertone jumping on that marketing opportunity... and then calling the other team the "redskins" for a totally different reason... but I digress.

They can always change the name to the Washington Warriors and keep the same logo. That way, it would be a fairly easy transition. Where in the area do you live?
