Safety First is a stupid phrase to begin with. If Safety was "First" we wouldn't be flying in poor weather because it is not as safe as flying in VFR, heck you could argue a Safety First mentality means you shouldn't fly at all!

Wouldn't surprise me if the average attention span of USA Today readers does not last long enough to even read the first half of this.
The politicians attention span is certainly not long enough.

Thing is...half the people who see that are still going to buy a ticket from cactus if it's two dollars cheaper than their competitor...and that is why our industry needs an overall. You can't turn a profit if you are racing your competitor down to the bottom, Not safely anyway.

I heard this captain made a PA announcement in the terminal of all places about the condition of the plane and said the company is trying to make them fly an unairworthy aircraft. Not sure, but that is a little over the top, no?

Unfortunately US Airways Management are are not the only ones that pull these kind of stunts. I know that for a fact.
 
I've got a couple of pals that are "Westies" over there and morale is pretty low.

Now the management guy I know, he's like honey badger, he don't even care! :)

I always thought the company motto was:

"At US Air, we don't care" - "At US Airways Express, we could care less"
