We're not involved in the merger, so why does Delta need to give up slots? Our current amount of slots were approved by both the DOJ and FAA.From the actual filing, sounds like they are giving up all of AA's slots in DCA, plus 2 US slots. So they are actually decreasing from the current US levels. Still seems like BS to me... none of the other airlines had to give up this much for their mergers.
Also, why give up LGA slots? Delta is the dominant carrier there... maybe they ought to give up some slots too.
Hey, don't drag us into this train wreck!

Hell no, Jones!USAir and American are the ones merging. Ain't nobody got time for that!
You should give up, umm, cheese for two months because your neighbor has lactose intolerance!![]()
SWA needed more slots in DCA and LGA, so they sent some pizzas and hookers over to DOJ and next thing you know, slots for sale to the LCC that can pay the most.Haha. Touche'. But still, two merging airlines need to give up slots because they'd have too much presence in a given market, when Delta is sitting over here with far more than the combined carrier would have.
I'm not seriously suggesting that Delta really give anything up, just saying that I think some of the logic here is flawed... but I think we all already knew that.
)Yea, there was no Pizza.... 8)(Do I really need to add this:)

If you believe Delta checkairmen rumors, RA said Delta will snatch up a ton of DCA slots. Maybe it'll all work out. Still waiting for you guys to buy Alaskan, and if this weekend is any indication, the gate agents and pilots can't wait.Every time Delta sneezed, it had to give up slots or gates to JetBlue and/or Southwest even when they were kicking Delta's ass in the market. It's the whole "Well this is ultimately going to raise prices on my voters so let me make it look like I did something to keep fares to Orlando low" when, in fact, it just means everyone is going to raise their prices.
The Alaska pilots and gate agents I said hi to were very open to a merger with Delta. Obviously it's anecdotal but I thought it was interesting.Delta can't wait or Alaska can't wait? I can wait. Mergers blow and the glee at which some of my American (and Eagle) pals are displaying is strange.
"OMG! My Dominoes delivery is almost here! WOO!"
Later:
"Eww, you know, I probably should have just made a sandwich."
What does this do to the 'flow'? @Firebird2XC?
They get seniority numbers when they flow right? Not much. The language remains the same- successorship was written into the language of all the post Letter 3 guys.
The primary issue is how seniority list integration plays out over the next several years.
As long as AA continues to hire- now or in its future incarnation, Eagle pilots will flow, with seniority reflecting date of hire. They'd be considered AA pilots with respective seniority when the USAir and AA lists integrate.
The 800 something guys that have numbers have language that says "American or it's successor". I don't know about the ones that come after them. The 4 monthly slots for PSA included the "or it's successor" language also.

Are there any furloughed AA or TWA guys at eagle? That might change it but they should be in front of every eagle guy who has never been at AA.
