In your experience, have you worked in a union position?
I don't know much about the hiring practices with management positions here other than to tell you that it's open to internal and external applicants.
Union/non-union's got nothing to do with it. What I'm saying is that with one exception, I've never known of an airline that filled dispatch supervisor positions from outside of the organization, let alone the company, because management wanted someone experienced with the unique aspects of the operation. In the case of that one exception, a transfer employee from another department, it did not work out well and didn't last very long.
But, if it's the case that supervisors make less than dispatchers, I'm not surprised no one wants it. Why take on more responsibility and less QOL for less money?
