Dispatch is one of those careers where after 30 years on the job you are still learning and improving. It is much like a doctor or lawyer in that way. I don't think many doctors have the mindset that they can only perform an appendectomy in so many ways and need to become the hospital manager to advance in their career.

You’re equating learning with professional development. These are not the same things. The way I think of it, “learning” is the incidental acquisition of knowledge. Professional development is the systematic acquisition of skills.

Think of it this way. You might know a lot about DRM . But could you teach a DRM class? Could you design and build a DRM curriculum?
