BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
WVTM is reporting that a large plane has crashed near the Birmingham, Alabama airport. According to initial reports, a UPS Cargo Plane crashed near 19th Avenue North and North East Lake Boulevard. Our sister station in Birmingham has a crew on the scene. According to the news crew, the plane is burning and they are not allowed to get closer due to explosions. There have now been at least 3 explosions. There could be debris covering about half a mile.

Weather reportedly was NOT a factor. 7-10 vis, overcast, but did not hear bases.

Flightaware shows a 5,500fpm descent in the final recordings, not sure how accurate that is...

It looked like the front section may had been intact from photos so I was holding out hope, but its reported 2 fatalities across the board now... :(
