Update: UPS flight dispatchers are asking to be paid like counterparts at Delta, American

I would propose that no response is the best policy when it comes to the individual in question (although I can certainly understand the temptation to respond, having been guilty of it myself in the past.)

For the record the comment derg redacted was not inappropriate, it was my opinion of a member of this board being in the mindset of entitlement. There was nothing said that was out of line, more white knight enabling SAD!

The purpose of this forum is for like-minded individuals and colleagues to come together, network, exchange information, mentor newcomers, and just generally enjoy each other's company and counsel. We don't always agree. But, generally speaking, we're not disagreeable.

You, on the other hand, seem to have no purpose other than being a jerk to everyone, and setting the world on fire just to watch it burn. If you can't contribute positively, don't contribute at all.

For the record, I believe we, as dispatchers, are ALL ENTITLED to an industry standard contract. The entire lot of us. That was my stance from the beginning of this. The fact that we are currently well below industry standard is unacceptable. This is not about me, but rather our entire group getting a contract that is at the very least back in line with industry standard.

Now given that we’ve been an industry leader until now, I find it also appropriate that we get a leading contract again. It’s to everyone’s benefit. When one airline’s contracts are up, they leapfrog the previous and so forth. That’s how this works folks.

Any scoop on the strike talk?

Hearing a lot of contradicting info. From the union side you hear that a strike is likely and from the company side you hear ops normal, plenty of time to come to an agreement. Who knows at this point but July 31st is right around the corner!

I saw an article talking about a strike vote from the drivers. From what the article stated it was basically that UPS was trying to B-scale drivers moving from part-time to full-time which, of course, is horse-droppings. I can't see any logical path forward if that's the stance the company is going to hold to. Any B-scale talk would be a non-starter and I'm sure that's why they are asking relief.

Remind me again @womanpilot73 are you guys Teamsters also?

When I entered the industry, without the B-scale, I probably would not have been hired by a major at least so early in my career. The 3 prior airlines bankruptcy and the B-scale drove a huge expansion at the majors. The B-scale was NEEDED to expand at the pace they desired and not just for dispatchers, but for all working groups.

At this point in the industry, a B-scale is not needed or can be justified (for dispatchers or pilots) and should never be agreed to by any unions or associations. The airlines should agree to a contract that attracts the very best operational minds as in the long run, it will save them money, IMO.

I've never heard of a B scale for dispatchers, but then I got to a major well after 2001 and the bankruptcies that followed.
