LOL!
That airport has been a mess for the last week or so. I'll be glad to see it back to normal.
I've been flying from LCK-IND-BKL-AGC-LCK-LUK-LCK for a little over a week, getting some IOE, and now I am awaiting training for a "floater" position in Burmingham, AL. While waiting, I am basically acting as a floater here in Columbus, doing that run. I am flying that run tonight, tomorrow, and next week, then training and eventually moving down to Bama. For those not fluent in the identifiers, that equates to Columbus, OH to Indianapolis, IN, Burke Lakefront (Cleveland), Allegheny County, PA, Columbus, Lunken, OH (Cincinatti sp?), then back to Columbus. This morning, I had to go back to LUK, then back home, on top of all that. 6.5 hours ME PIC in the logbook.
I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a different floater run, since the Burmingham one has a 5 on, 2 off schedule, and all the other floaters have an 8/6 schedule. It's all about the QOL, now, right?
Flying the line has been great. The weather has been very nice, a couple of TS en-route last night, but nothing major. I still haven't flown anything but visuals, but I know my time is coming soon.
I did hear a Delta getting questioned by Center last night...the conversation went something like this:
DL: Center, Delta requesting a deviation to the left for weather.
Center: That will take you right into the center of that stuff, but that's approved.
DL: Well, since you probably have a better picture of this stuff, can you stear us clear of this?
Center: You're right in the center of it. Anything you need is approved. I wouldn't have went that way in the first place.
And then silence. It's not verbatim, but you get the picture.
Well, enough for now. I'll try to keep posting every once in a while, but between this schedule and flying back to Jax on the weekends, time is limited. Take care...time for a beer and dinner.
