United reaching out to ALPA FFD Carriers

I'll be there for the 9/24 am session. Probably going to buy a ticket. Anyone going to try and non-rev?

At one point should you consider yourself somewhat competitive for one of these in the future so you aren't wasting their time and yours? 2-3k TT, 2-3k 121 RJ?

Serious question..

As soon as you meet the minimums for the job, you should consider YOURSELF competitive and start pushing for the job. If you wait until you meet whatever is considered competitive mins at that point in time, you're probably already way behind guys that have the same time you do and have been networking and maneuvering since they could apply. As soon as I met the mins for my current gig, I applied. The mins were basically ATP mins, so the day I got my ATP, my app went in. At the same time, I also started bugging people I knew at the airline to find out the best possible way to get in. Without pushing, cajoling, bugging and perhaps borderline harassing people, I'd probably still be at Endeavor. There were a few guys that got calls that didn't know anyone and did nothing past putting their app in, but they're normally a very, very tiny minority.

If you meet the mins, you are eligible for employment. It's all about timing and networking from that point on. Plus, they do look at how often you update your resume so getting it in as early as possible is a plus.

The guys with low time who work hard to make themselves attractive candidates through other means than flight time have been doing much better than the guys who think that since they've been in the left seat of an RJ for six years it's time for Delta to hand them a job.

I applied for and got a slot, just for the heck of it, even though I have no intention of working for United. So, in anyone is interested in my slot, send me a PM with a monetary bid. The highest bid gets the slot and a chance at a job at United.

He won't be answering.

FYI if this guy is really a pilot, and really is an ALPA member, I am pretty sure that selling the ticket "for profit" would get him kicked out of the union. I wouldn't mind passing this on to the UAL MEC whatsoever with his name.
