Last year I spent over 700$ on uniforms, on first year pay. This year because the uniform is changing, I'll have to do the same, but since they probably wont keep the white shirts I'll spend even more. I can't even deduct it from taxes. I'd say the union and senior pilots would step in and help the guys getting financially eviscerated at the bottom. But it seems that they are too busy showing photos of their boats to their copilots and bragging about all the premium pay they are getting.

I hope the changes stop eventually.

I'm not sure I've spent that much in 5 years, including the bomber jacket. How in the world did you spend $700 on uniform pieces?

1 FO belt
2 pants
2 long sleeve shirts
2 short sleeve shirts
1 blazer jacket

Paid in two installments 354.17 and 232.41

1 transition jacket $92.40 at the company store

= 678.98 All purchased via lands end outfitters per the company rec.

This does not include shoes, of course. Which change to brown next year I believe. I got some nice BLACK boots with wool lining for the SE trips and the walk arounds captains will never help with. 350$ down to 100$ at the Nordstrom Rack.

I can itemize that noise if you’d like. But I’m guessing your privilege will just ignore it. Or tell me I should have went to the secret 2nd hand shop in Gig Harbor, while I was in initial with no car. It’s why senior guys don’t have my back, they have zero empathy.

I’m certainly not looking forward to 2020. They don’t even survey the guys on probation.

And just be glad you’re not at the $53/hr AS pilots used to endure just a few years ago as 1st year pay.

I get your frustration, I really and truly do...but QX Pilot’s have to endure paying for their own uniforms for much lower pay.

End of the day, I see AS paying for uniforms and making us all feel better “cause look what we did for you!!!”
