United MEC Elects Bigot Boomer as Chairman

Thank god. But yes, what a mess. I really wish pilots could get out of their own way and act more rationally in who they elect.
Which pilots are you blaming here? Line guys for having him in ALPA or the reps who put him as MEC Chair? Seems unfair to go after anyone outside of alpa for not knowing anything about this guy besides what he wrote to be elected. Not many read forums, especially long boomer rants

I’m blaming the entire pilot group for an overreaction to a TA they didn’t like. Going on a recall binge and demanding a shift to hardcore militant leadership is never a wise move. This is what you end up with.

Off the cuff and rushed “regime change”, doesn’t always work out the way one is expecting; as has been seen in many different type-scenarios.

What was the overreaction? The offer that MEC put forward was abysmal and embarrassing. Are you skewing your opinion to favor the MEC over the line pilots because of your history? Maybe if UA MEC didn’t insult their pilots with the offer they had presented then this wouldn’t have happened and we could argue this is what the MEC ends up with because of their actions and not the line pilots. As far as I can see the MEC has done more damage to themselves than the pilots have. I don’t feel like it’s fair to put this blame on the line guys.

No need to feel embarassed, or anything emotional at all. It's just business from either perspective.

I’m not sifting through APC to figure it out, but does anybody have a tally on how many LEC members got sacked before the chairman election happened? Has the MEC really been made all that much since the TA? Should the line pilots be angry that their remade MEC elected someone unfit? Should the MEC members that voted for him now be sacked? This reminds me of the beginning credits of Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

I know EWR they voted everyone out and some of the other bases had multiple people. Then some meetings, like sfo, were placed in Napa to make it difficult for people to show up.
Either way you can start pointing the blame at everyone but if I had anything to do with that MEC I’d have to look at what was going on inside first before I turn on the line pilots. I find it odd that was the first person ti go after for having this guy as the MEC Chair. Sure, don’t blow up your MEC over a TA offer but any line pilot could say hmm maybe don’t nominate a homophobe rage to run our union.

The MEC drama has nothing to do with line pilots anyways. You can see that at our shop right now.

Ahh, so you’re one of the people who would overreact to a less than perfect TA and start capping reps. Joy.

Alright.... I haven't seen it put that way.
I request 3 really good examples so I can wrap my head around this.

If @Derg would reopen my thread talking about wokeness at Stanford that never should have been locked in the first place, I’d be happy to. This isn’t the thread for a long discussion about woke culture, though.

You try to turn every thread into a battlefield in your goofy little war on a word you can’t even define.
