You and me bothI just got a second TBNT email for this posting. They must REALLY mean it!![]()
That type of lateral movement is unheard of at the major level, it's completely unique to them.
How many times have you heard about a DL/AA/WN dispatcher taking a pay cut and loss in seniority to go to another major?
Wouldn't that be a lateral move? Moreover, why would someone take the hit in seniority to make what amounts to a lateral move? Unless they WANT to be in or around Chicago (e.g. they have family there), why would someone make a lateral move and take a hit in pay and seniority?Word on the street has it that at least two members of the new hire class at UA previously dispatched at one of the two cargo "majors." Just sayin...
Good luck to all the UA new hires!

Rumor has it... Chicago natives. UA pays more than UPS since negotiations haven't gone well. Although, cost of living makes UPS a slightly better choice IMO.Wouldn't that be a lateral move? Having ties to the area would make sense.Flight benefits
Perrhaps they just don’t like their current shop or the people they work with.
But if I had to bet money I’m sure they probably have ties to the area
Depends on how much TIME they have at said cargo major, doesn't it?Whatever makes you think they’re taking a pay cut to make the move?
There could be alot of reasons for someone to switch. Everyone's situation and preference is different.
You and LX have great points. In any case, having experience at a cargo major would certainly enhance one's resume'!^This. What’s perceived as the best shop to one person could be the worst fit for another. At the end of the day your own happiness is worth more than any paycheck or spot on a seniority list.
Should everyone have gotten the TBNT emails by now? My United job page still says under review. You and me both
