Uniform Pants

Anyone know where a pilot can get some decent uniform pants these days?

We use Cintas as our uniform vendor, and their pants are terrible. I've heard that M&H Uniforms pants are even worse than the Cintas brand. I looked at the list of airlines that M&H is a provider for... What does your airline use? I'm looking for some decent plain front pants that will match my blazer. Something that isn't snug. Most pants I've found fit very tight due to my 32 inch waist, therefore look ridiculous.

Thoughts? I've been using pants from Target which look decent, but wear out quickly. I also had some Dockers dress pants which have been OK, but they got that "shine" on them quickly.

We use M&H pants at PDT (for the new US Airways uniforms). You do have the option to get flat front or old-man-style (pleats!). I chose pleats.

For all their general shortcomings, M&H pants aren't that bad. I've had the same 2 pairs for 2.5 years now of use and abuse at colganicle. Regukar dry cleanings and occasional washing and they're still going strong. Can't say much good about the rest of their stuff but the pants are actually pretty decent.

We use M&H and I hate the pants. It feels like its made of sand paper... I would just buy a couple pairs of the target ones. Or if you have money to spend goto Nordstrom or one of the other nicer big stores and get a pair tailored to fit you right. Just bring your jacket so you can match the color.

Bill's are from Abbott, 3 of his 4 pairs are from when he was a new-hire (8 years ago). They've held up very well.

You could try Field's (Macy's), Norstroms', or Lord & Taylor, they have dress pants you'd probably be able to find a color match with.

We had M&H at SkyWest and the consensus from most of the people I've talked to is that the pants are miserable. Personally, I wore mine on one trip before relegating them to the back of the closet. They felt like sandpaper. If you are into nudism, they could be good for you in the winter because when the wind blew on me I felt like I was wearing nothing at all. Oh yeah, I use the dockers dress pants from Sears, but I agree they don't last long. Here's hoping those Abbots are as nice as they sound.

I've got Cintas pants still. I've had them for almost 3 years now and I rotate through 3 pairs. Wash them after every trip and dry clean them about every other month. Just before dry cleaning they tend not to hold a crease too well, but it's there.

Several people I know are getting black uniform pants at JC Pennys and loving them. I'm still wearing the old uniform and haven't made the jump to black yet, but when I do I think I'll try the Penny's option.

Costco sells black pants under their Kirkland brand name. Good fit, wears well, and for the cheap pilot, if something is wrong with them, they'll take them back, no questions asked.

I use the David Taylor brand slacks that Sears sells. They seem to be an almost perfect match in material to our cintas blazers. The upside is that they are much more durable, more comfortable, and about half the price of Cintas' pants.

While they certainly cost more than the Haggar Comfort Stretch :sarcasm:, I'm a happy customer of Abbott Uniform in Atlanta. They're close to the airport and if you're in the neighborhood, worth the visit.

Great customer service too! They do A LOT of military-spec uniforms.

I went to Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls, and TJ MAx. I got higher quality (not hard when comparing to M&H), less expensive, and more comfortable pants. The hard part is getting a color that is a close enough match.

:yeahthat:

Especially to the "sand paper" part. I just bought a pair of Target pants, and I think they not only look better, but feel better, too. Just take the blazer with you to the store to make sure the colors match. Worked for me.

I had a problem with the target specials. I've had two pair that ripped at the same exact spot. It's where the tag on the right rear pocket its fastened on with the plastic ties. The pants first began to fade on those spots and then they eventually ripped.

I have a pair of dockers now but I don't like them very much. Once I get off of reserve, I'm heading Marshals to see can I find something better.

Marshalls? I figure you'd be down at K-MOMO getting some saggy "Sean Johns" for your uniform, KLB? When did you get all gentrified on us? :) :sarcasm:

Hey Matt. I too was on the quest for non-Cintas pants recently. I took a pair of the Cintas pants with me to stores to match and found Ralph Lauren makes a flat front, no cuff pant that matches exactly. They're a lot more comfortable and seem to be pretty durable so far. They ran me around $70 at Macy's.

I thought you really liked Cintas!? :cwm27:
