Twin Otter PIC

"atps on staff"

I remember the feeling....My local DZ that ran a Twin Otter and C182 had TWO ATPs on staff.

You have to be willing to move to the job...

I get to fly a DHC-6 in a 121 environment, going into unpaved strips and shooting approaches to minimums in the winter (with ice). Next year when I'm eligible to bid for captain I'll be clearing roughly $36,000/yr.

Oh and how do you get 23 folks in there? It's rated for 20 seats (add one for the non existant second pilot and you get 21) - Just curious?

Just a heads up, there really wasn't a big reason to come out swinging against the regional guys.

No seats. Same way they fit more than 4 in a 182. I remember hearing they can stuff at least 6 plus the pilot in a 182 providing everyone isn't fat.

Hmmmm ... explain this then ...

No offense, but this job is 1000 times better than a regional job...at least for most people.

This job requires that you do more than follow the book and raise the gear at 600ft.

Your plane mr. regional new hire 400TT guy...Fix it.

Of course, personally I wouldnt work for a regional if you held a gun to my head. Im worth more than 23K a year.

That's "swinging" in my book.

I could have chosen to say something like "have fun playing elevator operator" or "wow those Better-than-5&5-approaches must be tough" or "man 2 mile 'x-cuntries' must be really taxing" or any number of things that might "put down" jumper flying but I didn't, because there is no need.

Your flying is different not better, or worse, than regional flying.

So, next time you feel inadaquate about your job try to refrain from blasting other folks to feel better. :)

At least 3 but maybe four times. ;)

Whats the best way to go about getting a job flying jumpers. I have my Comm-Multi and single about to get my CFI. I have about 170 hours flying twins, but only about 100 flying singles, and no time in a 182.

If you are willing to move anywhere, you might be able to find a gig with 300TT, but 500 is better. No time in a C182 shouldnt be a problem for a good operator (the training needed should satisfy any insruance mins).

Twin Otter jobs require a minimum of 1000TT. The best way to get that at such a low time is to spend you first 600hours of paid time flying jumpers in a smaller plane. DZs really like pilots with jump pilot experiance.

Put together your best resume and mail them off to every dz you can find. Look on dropzone.com for job postings.
