Never have i seen so many people ignore FA instructions to not approach the forward lav during our bathroom breaks, than i did in the days and week after the start of the Iran war. Probably just coincidence, but it made the hair on my neck stand up, As you say, nation state, but one that has an extensive history of sponsoring terrorist groups, and that was before they truly had the motivation to do so. I will say i doubt that the next “big one” will come in the same flavor that 9/11 did, because that would be stupid on their part, but I have been much more aware at those times than i probably was in the past. There are a couple things in the fwd galley that could be improvised killing devices, and I am never more than an arms reach away from them, lest i need to prevent them from being used against me (or another crew member)
Get dispatch and corporate security on a satcom call and we'll make a decision together. Ultimately it's the company's airplane, and as long as it doesn't involve doing something stupid, I'll take it wherever they tell me to.
