That's like saying, "I head a great joke!! Call me if you wanna hear it..."

Or like emailing someone saying that they will email them later.

No, its more like you answering a question without an answer!

How about, "Clay.. welcome aboard, I am not located in your area, but post away here and maybe we can help you."

Ok I know I am jumping the gun but I am really excited about flying I am currently working on my private license. I was flying last saturday and I met a guy with a TBM-700 and he offered me a ride and I couldn't resist. So essentially I am asking if anyone here knows if I can find some cheap turbine time in the austin area just for fun every once in a while.

Clay

There's only one type of cheap turbine time for inexperianced pilots... FREE! Just get to know some of the guys around the airport and you are bound to score some more time at some point... you just may not be able to log it.

why wouldnt I be able to log turbine time? if I am in the right seat isnt it SIC?

[/ QUOTE ]

The right seat is not automatically SIC.

It's only SIC if you're legally needed (and trained) in that aircraft.

You can log it if you want, but the FAA or any potential employers will most certainly ask 'Wow, what type of operation in a TBM 700 required a SIC? Where did you go to training at?"

Oh, just a little single engine prop plane...nothing too fancy...

Low wing, pressurized, single engine turboprop. It's sort of like a Piper Malibu Meridian. Fast and sexy. And expensive.

(mtsu beat me to it...)

Im ignorant... what's a TBM-700?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's a single-engine turboprop built by EADS Socata.

Would you be able to log the time if the pilot was a CFI doing "training" in the A/C?

Be more specific...you can't just say, "It's training!!". Any particular scenario??

The first time (and only time so far) that I flew our King Air I think we called it "King Air Familiarization" in the remarks section of my logbook. Also, we have to take a King Air systems class before we can fly it. Same goes for the CJ to be SIC qualified. We didn't go out and do maneuvers or anything, however, every co-pilot new to the aircraft has to do the 3 T/O and landings to be "SIC qualified." Would something similar work for the TBM?
